What You'll Do:

Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.

Operate Equipment. Operate ready-mix truck in accordance with all federal, state, and Vulcan regulations.

Operate truck to receive a load, evaluate slump, and drive to the job site. Maneuver truck on job site, attach chutes to discharge material, and clean truck to minimize concrete buildup.

Inspect and Maintain Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports. Clean the outside of the vehicle and chutes to ensure the absence of concrete build-up at the end of each shift.

Document and Record Information. Complete all forms, service reports, tickets, and required paperwork to ensure organization of documents and needed paperwork.

Coordinate with Dispatch. Work closely with dispatch, maintenance, and plant management to facilitate the flow of information required to provide good customer service.

Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities such as cleaning all areas on the vehicle, climbing a ladder to inspect loads of ready mix concrete, hanging mixer chutes, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Ready to Drive. Must possess a commercial driver's license and have a valid DOT physical or the ability to get one.

Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing ready-mix trucks is preferred. Experience with Department of Transportation rules and regulations is preferred.

Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Customer Focus. Must be able to take responsibility for customer relationships and appropriately represent Vulcan on job sites and while transporting product on public streets and highways.

Clean Driving Record. Must have a clean and safe driving record and the ability to safely operate and control equipment while on the job.

Estes drivers make a difference from pickup to delivery, every mile of the way in neighborhoods and nation-wide. * Will be required to operate all types of equipment to perform all safety functions, including, but not limited to, operating manual transmission, chaining tires, etc. and must be skilled and qualified to drive in all types of terrain, routes and environmental conditions. * Responsible for safely operating a Non CDL Straight Truck in the transportation of freight in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local laws with regard to run times and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations * Must adhere to all FMCSA requirements of those holding a Commercial Driver's License * Maintain records required with compliance with local, state and federal regulations * Comply with all requirements for safe and legal transportation of hazardous materials * Insure security of equipment and cargo * Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe working conditions of the tractor and trailer prior to each trip and at the end of each trip * Check gauges and visual indicators for malfunctions, ensure seal or lock on trailers and conducts inspection of vehicle before and during trips to determine problems that may be occurring * Promptly report all maintenance problems to Fleet Services and/or supervision * Verify unit numbers versus paperwork given and report any discrepancies to your supervisor * May be required to use in-cab technology, to include electronic logs and other items * May be required to drive different schedules and work the dock based on business needs * Provide professional and courteous service to our customers and the general public * Will assist where needed based on business requirements: Dock work to include loading/unloading freight, Customer site loading/unloading freight. * Regular attendance is required. * This is not an all-inclusive list of job requirements and/or duties and may not contain all mental and physical capabilities necessary to perform the job at all times due to circumstances.
