Duties
To serve as integrated language arts resource person. To tutor at-risk students in reading. This teacher will provide Reading Specialist services at Glen Crest Middle School. Reading Specialist will work with struggling/striving readers in a reading intervention classroom. Reading specialist endorsement required.
Qualifications
All applicants for this position are required to meet Illinois State Board of Education certification. CCSD89 requirements includes: PEL (Professional Educator License) with Illinois State Board of Education, a bachelor's degree, as well as NCLB (No Child Left Behind). EL endorsement preferred.
Additional Notes
The Chosen candidate will possess the following:
Deep Knowledge and experience implementing current reading and writing interventions ( LLI, Sonday, 95% Aimsweb)
Reading specialist preferred
EL certification preferred
Positive, strong advocate for kids
Integral part of the MTSS process
Ability to review and analyze building data as part of child find process
Focus on problem solving and being a resource to staff in the process
Strong experience/plan for ongoing, consistent progress monitoring and data collection for all intervention students
Repertoire of strategies to use if an intervention isn't working or if a student is making strong progress
Ability to plan and provide professional development on reading strategies and differentiation for struggling readers/writers
Strong communication skills with parents and regular education teachers
Ability to work as part of a team with the special education staff and other interventionists
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual needs
Work closely with paraprofessional support to plan, assess, differentiate and implement a variety of interventions
Ability to move back and forth between groups periodically so that you know all of your students
Work closely with the coach and other interventionists in the district to provide strong K-8 program
Willingness and availability to participate in summer training
Ideally this candidate will be a Reading Specialist.
