Working at our Rocketship Infinity campus the Reading Instructional Coach will provide direct instructional coaching to all lower grades (K-2) Humanities Teachers on the campus. This role will also be responsible for creating and delivering professional development to Rocketship staff and for facilitating weekly data analysis meetings with each grade level they manage as well as provide consultation and coaching to school leaders, teachers and families regarding effective instructional practices for early literacy.

This position requires previous teaching experience and experience working with data-driven academic assessment tools. It requires a commitment to serving students and educators and a desire to think critically and creatively about how to support the campus' academic needs.

Please note, this role is currently only available for the 24-25 school year due to the funding model.

Essential Functions

  • Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Coach/manage reading teachers, interventionists and instructional support staff (as appropriate)

  • Lead training and ongoing professional development for reading teachers

  • Monitor student progress monitoring data and adjust any small group and/or intervention programming as needed.

  • Lead weekly grade level team meetings to analyze intervention data and make individual student adjustments when necessary

  • Collaborate with and be a part of any coordinated meetings (IEP meetings, SST meetings, MTSS meetings for students in grades K-2).

  • Communicate with parents, as necessary, regarding student needs and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance at home.

  • Maintain relationships and effectively communicate with the LEA, other school leaders, teachers, and parents in all facets of the position.

  • Adhere to compliance laws and regulations, including IDEA timelines.

  • Provide professional development trainings to school staff as-needed regarding best practices in academic content accessibility, academic data collection and analysis and overall best practices regarding early literacy instruction.

  • Participate in bi-monthly school leader walkthroughs and weekly observations with network/regional staff.

  • Maintain a close working relationship with other members of the Network Support Program Team (NeST-Rocketship's centralized office that operates in support of its schools and regions) to ensure exchange of best practices, coordination of efforts, and general support for humanities teachers.

  • Provide in-the-moment-coaching to staff on their instruction and classroom management

  • Lead parent trainings to teach skills in regards to supporting a student's academic growth and development.

Qualifications

  • BA from Accredited University, Master's Degree Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience teaching in an urban city classroom and realizing significant gains.

  • Deep knowledge of elementary instruction, particularly humanities content knowledge and planning skills.

  • Strong leadership skills, passion for coaching, and personal drive.
