We are looking for a full-time Compliance Associate to join the Grant Audit and Compliance department in our New York office. You will be responsible for managing the portfolio of grantees and providing support by analyzing financial statements and resolving grant audit issues. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and collaborative team player who can manage multiple priorities within time constraints.

Note: this is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days in the office.

Since our founding in 1951, the Claims Conference has secured more than $90 billion from the German government in indemnification for Survivors. For 2023, the Claims Conference will distribute approximately $625 million in direct compensation to over 260,000 survivors in 83 countries and allocate approximately $750 million in grants to over 300 social service agencies worldwide that provide vital services for Holocaust survivors, such as home care, food, and medicine. Our Research, Education, and Documentation (RED) funds contribute toward global efforts to educate the public and preserve the memory of the Holocaust through teacher training programs, exhibitions, and films such as Son of Saul, an Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film. Responsibilities:

• Oversee grantee agencies management and oversight structures, including the relationship between partners and how agency objectives are crafted and implemented;

• Guide the review and assessment of the governance, management, and risk management structures of the social service agencies we fund;

• Auditing of the governance of the Agencies;

• Prepare reports with the results of the governance, management, and risk management structures for Compliance, Audit, and Allocations;

• Remediate assessed risks and resolve open audit issues;

• Manage and follow up with grantees on open Grant audit issues until resolved;

• Analyze financial statements for liquidity, solvency, and net income;

• Analyze supplemental audits for Claims Conference requirements;

• Identify Grantees not fully complying with the Claims Conference Allocation Letter.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting or finance (preferred) or equivalent experience;

• Two+ years of experience in financial services;

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

• Ability to balance multiple priorities and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines;

• Strong verbal and written communication skills;

• Proactive and strategic solution provider;

• Collaborative team player;

• Foreign Language skills are helpful but not required;

• Some travel may be required, both domestically and internationally.

The Claims Conference offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our target salary range for Compliance Associate in the New York City market is $70,000-$75,000. This salary range represents Claims Conferences good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidates exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
