REACH Medical Capacity Building VISTA

Rural Health Network SCNY (RHN)'s mission is to advance the health and well-being of rural people and communities. The RHN VISTA program, Rural Health Service Corps, will seek to eliminate poverty in the proposed service areas, and expects to benefit program participants, community members, and host organizations.

Twenty VISTA members total will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as strategic planning, research, grant writing, training, volunteer management, and coalition building over the course of the next year. Our VISTA members serve in Upstate New York (typically in the rural Southern Tier region) and they receive a living allowance of $22,882 (pre-tax) and an Education Award of $6,895 (or a $1,800 end of service stipend). Member Duties : The REACH AmeriCorps VISTA member provides capacity building and organizational support to REACH staff members related to the development of the REACH Syringe Service Program (SSP) and other health equity expansion projects. The REACH VISTA member will work with REACH staff to develop data entry and reporting methods, implement compliance measures, and administer internal evaluation methods to ensure program success and compliance in accordance with the Department of Health AIDS Institute.

More specifically, the member will collaborate with the REACH staff to develop, create, and manage SSP data collection and reporting methods; develop compliance measures for the SSP program (and other REACH departments as needed); develop and distribute SSP documentation, client resources, and promotional materials; and complete grant applications and other funding/expansion opportunities as needed. This position is located in Ithaca, NY and involves in-person service.
