Job Title: R&D Ultrasonic Electronics Engineer
Location: Jamestown, NY
Department: Blackstone Research & Development
Exemption Classification: Salaried, exempt
Pay: $77,500.00-$97,000.00/year
Essential Functions:
Specify electronic components, hardware, and software requirements for the ultrasonic and megasonic hardware.
Specify and implement a new electronic circuit and printed circuit board design software.
Manage hardware and software product revisions in accordance with Blackstone-NEY engineering and quality standards.
Actively set up, participate in, and provide oversight of electronic design testing for the above referenced products.
Understand and design to International Standards of Conformity (UL, CSA, CE, etc.)
Act as the Blackstone-NEY interface with the certifying agencies.
Provide creative design input into other Blackstone-NEY ultrasonic and megasonic components, transducers, methods, and wiring schemes.
Assist Blackstone-NEY Manufacturing and Technical Service departments with problem solving solutions.
Provide quality control guidance to outside component vendors for PCB component level failures and other hardware failures.
Provide written and graphic assembly and test instructions including fixtures as needed to the manufacturing, service departments and vendors on new and current generator and board design.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM DUTIES
Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of a 4-year electrical/electronic engineering degree from an accredited university
Skills:
Must possess demonstrable knowledge of the following:
Power semiconductor devices
H-bridges, full bridges, and half bridges
IGBT, power MOSFETS
Silicon carbide power devices
Magnetics, and the subject of magnetic materials
Transformers
Air-core power inductors (particularly for use below 500 kHz), or "inductor"
Power electronics
Industrial power electronics
Industrial electronics
Switched-mode power supplies
Inverters
Boost-Buck converters
Feedback control, "control electronics," PID control, closed-loop control
Power factor correction (PFC)
PIC microcontrollers
C, C++ programming
Firmware development
CPLD (does not supersede knowledge of power electronics)
Must be well organized with knowledge of PC applications (i.e. Microsoft Office, especially Excel), accurate data entry skills, and ability to work under pressure.
Language Skills: Communicate verbally and/or in writing with other employees, other departments, and supervision as to work in progress, problems, and/or completion.
Mathematical Skills: Demonstrate skills in advanced linear Algebra, Calculus, differential equations, and complex analysis in addition to a solid understanding of electrical laws.
Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to identify work process problems and possible solutions.
Physical Demands:
Sit at workstation for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to adjust visual focus. May be required to reach, stoop, and/or bend on an as-needed basis. Must be able to climb stairs as necessary. Some light lifting may be required.
