The National Instruments R&D organization is hiring experienced RF hardware design engineer.
The National Instrument's RF R/D Team is seeking to hire an experienced professional to work on standard NI Products. The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with engineering teams to define, document, design, deploy and sustain NI products tailored to meet specific customer requirements for engineering solutions. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding RF circuit and system level design.
This is a multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs, including the ability to gather requirements, generate specification documents, and interface with manufacturing partners, meet with product planning and internal personnel to design, deploy and sustain solutions worldwide.
The Principal RF Hardware Engineer position is a high visibility role within NI. This is a hand's on multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering skills needed to support deployed custom solutions worldwide
Uses high frequency design tools to design and to simulate RF, microwave, and mmWave circuits, sub-systems, and complete system products.
Defining and implementing project plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to assure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment
Lifecycle management of product under development
Owning and implementing individual technical project deliverables, guiding technical decisions and driving field found issues to resolution
Traveling as needed (possibly up to 15%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
Minimum Bachelor degree in an Engineering Discipline
Minimum 7 years relevant industry experience in an RF Systems Design Role or a RF Hardware Circuit Design Role.
Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics and RF principles - knowledge of microwave modeling tools (Microwave Office, AXiEM, Analyst, CST, ADS, Ansys)
Proficient knowledge of schematic capture tools (Mentor graphics, Cadence, Altium)
Willing to travel up to 10% domestically and abroad in support of project objectives
Hands on use of microwave modeling tools
Understanding of schematic capture tools
Understanding of Simulation, Data Analysis and Presentation
Demonstrated understanding of the following concepts and principles:
Sources of measurement error
Appropriate selection of instrumentation and equipment
Integration of hardware and software
Grounding and shielding principles
Familiar with schematic capture tools
Statistical analysis of data (Cp, Cpk, GR&R)
Intimate VNA, Vector Signal Generator and Spectrum Analyzer measurements experience
RF System design and debug experience in a large-scale production or lab environment
Demonstrated ability to:
Effectively interact and communicate with customers
Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment
Problem-solve effectively - diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions
Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently
