The R&D Product Support Team Lead will perform activities related to on-market immunoassay product support within the Infectious Disease Diagnostics R&D group. You will lead a small team of talented scientists with varying experience at the BS/MS and PhD levels who work on high impact, global projects that have a direct influence on the success of the organization. These strategic projects are high priorities for the organization and will provide the opportunities to serve as a consultant to areas across the organization. The Product Support organization's mission is to maintain and support the production of high-quality products by working through the entire process from new product development, product transfer, manufacturing and QC to Customer support to identify and resolve issues ranging from small technical challenges to full-scale product redesign projects.

What will you do?

  • Manage a team of up to 4 scientists, assigning work, monitoring activities and evaluating performance. Manages escalated/critical issues.

  • Lead work activities of the technical project team, planning and organizing work, and driving the projects forward according to the project road map.

  • Identify problems, obstacles and opportunities for improvements and proactively act to address issues and develop implementation strategies.

  • Proactively communicate with other related process centers and departments, such as Manufacturing, Supply Chain, QC, QA, Regulatory Affairs, Customer Support and Product Management, to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.

  • Work in collaboration on transfer of products and supporting processes to manufacturing.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal technical and regulatory reviews. Will present at all levels within the organization, including senior management.

  • Serve as technical consultant for internal stakeholders.

  • Interface and coordinate work of outside vendors and contractors.

  • May participate in conferences, webinars and seminars to continue to develop knowledge base.

  • Maintains knowledge of products and procedures, developments in the field and industry and regulatory environment. Adheres to appropriate procedures and regulatory requirements.

What do you need to succeed?

  • PhD with 5+ years relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong technical leadership acumen with an ability to organize, prioritize and direct work activities.

  • Significant experience using Six Sigma/LEAN principles, such as design of experiments and Y to X problem solving methodologies.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build networks and teams.

  • Project management skills and abilities with prior experience managing complex projects.

  • Immunoassay development experience is required with a background in immunology, chemistry, engineering, or biochemistry.

  • Experienced in product support and/or development and manufacturing process transfer or scale-up activities.

  • Continuous improvement mindset with proven reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues.

  • Excellent internal and external customer focus and relationship-building skills required.

  • Technologically savvy with demonstrated track record for learning new software tools.
