Job Overview

The role of the R&D Product Development Engineer is to work with product management and project management to define product performance requirements and then develop a product design solution to deliver value to the target markets and customer base. The rotational program provides the foundation for this role through rotational assignments, functional skill development, and a cross-functional group project. Each engineer has a sponsor and within the rotation assignment reports to an experienced engineer who coordinates and oversees all their activities providing instruction.

As part of the rotation program, you will also participate in the ASPIRE Program. This is a two-year learning journey that will allow you to learn and work together with young professionals across your region through a mix of virtual and face to face sessions, utilizing both internal TE programs and external leadership and business development. You will also have the opportunity to build your network by meeting senior leaders and fellow participants from different functions and business units across the globe. You will also be assigned to smaller learning groups or pods where focused group coaching is provided with collaborative application work for you to accelerate your ability to apply your learning experience in real work applications.

As an R&D Product Development Rotational Engineer on our New Product Introduction team, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Understand customer requirements and translate them into cost-effective designs

  • Develop product design concepts using 3D modeling skills in Pro-Engineer Creo software

  • Work across functions to ensure designs are completed on time, on cost and to TE and customer expectations

  • Conduct tolerance analysis on connector assemblies and stamped and molded components to determine dimensional fits

  • Work with Manufacturing Development Engineers to understand the manufacturing processes involved and assure manufacturability of designs

  • Generate product and application specifications under guidance of senior Engineers

  • Write qualification test plans

  • Prepare and submit test samples to reliability test labs

  • Partner with sales and marketing to prepare new product presentations and trainings

  • Initiating and implementing programs to continuously improve quality and cost

What your background should look like:

  • Must be graduating (or recently graduated) from a Bachelor's Degree Program in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Previous internship and/or work experience preferred

  • Geographically mobile within North America

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)

  • Ability to manage tasks with attention to detail

  • CAD experience preferred

This position with be located at our Winston-Salem, NC office.

Responsibilities * Conceiving ideas for new products and introducing them into practice. * Gathering voice of customer and developing product solutions while working closely with global manufacturing resources and outside suppliers to meet all TE technical, quality, and cost objectives. * Adapting and reconfiguring existing product designs for performance enhancements, manufacturability improvements, and cost reduction efforts. * Conducting feasibility studies, communicating product testing requirements, and performing development testing. * Creating all required product documentation including, but not limited to, 3D models, drawings, product and application specifications, DFMEAs, tolerance analysis, and test plans & reports. * Maintaining engineering control of product related documentation via the engineering change system. * Directing and supporting detailed product design, prototype fabrication, testing, and manufacturing ramp. * Working closely with the new product launch teams and the final manufacturing location to ensure smooth launch of products into the production facility.
