The R&D Manager will support activities related to immunoassay pipeline management and new product development within the Infectious Disease Diagnostic R&D group. You will lead a team of talented scientists who work on high impact, global projects that have a direct influence on the success of the organization. These strategic projects are high priorities for the organization and will provide the opportunities to serve as a consultant to areas across the organization for pre and post-launch activities.

What will you do?
Manage a team of 4 experienced scientists, assigning work, monitoring activities and evaluating performance. Manages escalated/critical issues.
Lead work activities of the technical project team, planning and organizing work, and driving the projects forward according to the project road map.
Identify problems, obstacles and opportunities for improvements and proactively acts to address issues and develop implementation strategies.
Proactively communicate with other related departments and process centers to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
Work in collaboration on transfer of products and supporting processes to manufacturing.
Prepare reports and presentations for internal technical and regulatory reviews. Will present at all levels within the organization, including senior management.
Serve as technical consultant for internal stakeholders post-launch.
Interface and coordinate work of outside vendors and contractors.
May author manuscripts based on research by the group for publication in scientific journals.
What do you need to succeed?
PhD with at least 3+ years relevant work experience required.
Strong technical leadership acumen with an ability to organize, prioritize and direct work activities.
Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build networks and teams.
Project management skills and abilities with prior experience managing complex projects.
Immunoassay development experience is required with a background in infectious disease diagnostics preferred.
Experienced in product development and manufacturing transfers.
Continuous improvement mindset with proven reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills to resolve issues.
Excellent internal and external customer focus and relationship-building skills required.
Technologically savvy with demonstrated track record for learning new software tools.
