Job Summary
We're looking for a Lab Technician to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for compounding samples, ensuring lab cleanliness, preparing finished products, conducting product analyses, recording data, managing raw material orders and retrievals, handling sample shipping, and assisting in production processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Follow instructions from product developers, scientists, and supervisors.
- Compound and weigh materials accurately with strong attention to detail.
- Operate lab equipment such as scales, utensils, mixers, and ingredient measurements.
- Perform calculations involving ratios, decimals, and percentages in a fast-paced environment.
- Enter data and use basic PC skills, including Excel and Word.
- Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Work well in a team as well as independently.
- Solve problems as they arise.
- Prepare food products through various methods like baking and frying.
- Evaluate products using all senses, including color perception, taste, and smell.
- Lift up to 10 pounds continuously, 20 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds occasionally.
- Work overtime when required.
- Complete a 2-3 week training period in production.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, food science, or a related field preferred. High school diploma with a strong background in science or math required.
- Experience: Previous lab experience is required.
- Skills: Familiarity with food grade chemicals, flavors, and ingredients. Proficient in using visual acuity for operating equipment and reading technical information. Ability to mix and compound flavors accurately. Good dexterity with hands and fingers.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a controlled lab setting.
- Regularly use hand and finger dexterity.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
- Frequently lift, push, or carry items up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift, push, or carry items up to 60 pounds.
Compensation and Schedule
- Pay: $20-25 per hour
- Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday
