Join our dynamic and rapidly growing team as a Research and Development Scale Up Lab and Pilot Technician. As an R&D Scale Up Lab and Pilot Technician, you'll be accountable for conducting a diverse array of novel and existing product experiments. Your role is pivotal in supporting product development through precise machine operation and meticulous data collection.
In this hands-on position, the R&D Lab and Pilot Technician will work closely with chemists, engineers, and operators to manufacture and test R&D prototype water-soluble films along with maintaining the lab space and equipment. The role will contribute to the creation of comprehensive trial records that bolster new product initiatives and push the limits of water-soluble film technology.

Primary Responsibilities
Operating laboratory polymer compounding and film extrusion equipment
Characterizing polymer compounds and films
Film conversion and application testing
Basic equipment maintenance and calibration
Data entry and trial reporting
Ordering laboratory supplies
Safety
R&D Team Meetings
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, Material, or Polymer Science or related degree
Must be able to follow and listen to frequent instructions
Have a knowledge of chemistry and polymer processing equipment and maintenance
Have a basic knowledge of statistics.
Must be able to have an understanding of the function & meaning of testing results
Be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab or JMP, R&D analytical equipment, and other analytical software as needed.
Be willing to work in conditions where one is exposed to chemicals and safety hazards including high temperatures and rotating machinery.
Ability to lift up to 55lbs for short periods of time
Schedule: Normal business hours, 40 hours per week and occasional overtime.
Physical Location: Portage, Indiana with travel to Chicago, IL on routine basis
