R&D Lab Admin (South San Francisco)

Overview

As a R&D Lab Administrator, you will play a critical role in helping our laboratory in South SF run smoothly. You'll work in a highly dynamic R&D environment with a group of talented scientists, automation engineers, tinkerers, and builders. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the team has everything they need to succeed, from equipment to specimens, to reagents and consumables.

Responsibility

• Maintains and tracks laboratory supply inventory. Working with other groups within the company to procure materials to keep the lab running. Checks stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

• Provide support for the purchase requisition process (creating requisitions, new vendor setups, request purchase order on Oracle, etc.).

• Payment tracking and record keeping in addition to asset inventory record keeping.

• External vendor management: keeping track of PRs and making sure payments are being sent out and items are being received.

• General project coordination support:

• Jira ticket management, workload analysis during monthly sprint planning

• Follow up on Jira tickets, set up meetings with relevant stakeholders, and set agendas/take notes where needed.

• Timeline tracking and updating.

• Space management and organization:

• Management and organization of parts and part storage, including stock checking and backfilling.

• Space planning and optimization to meet business needs.

• Bench/office allocation for new hires.

• Establish and maintain shared lab space best practices.

• Works with building facilities and maintenance to ensure the laboratory is in good upkeep and any repairs/renovations are performed in a timely manner.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Biological Sciences, related field, or equivalent required.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and great attention to detail: At any given time, you know where things are, what their statuses are, and what needs to be done when.

• Independent and resourceful multitasker: You take ownership of problems and figure out a way to get things done. If there isn't a manual, you write one. You know who to talk to and are a master of juggling many tasks at once.

• Have a desire for efficiency.

• Have a general aptitude for hardware and how things are put together.

• Have a general aptitude for working in a BSL2 lab.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
