R&D Food Technologist

Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled professional to utilize their expertise in ingredients, flavors, and processes to develop food product systems. You'll engage in customer presentations and address technical challenges effectively.

Location: Riverdale, NJ (relocation assistance will be considered)

Target Salary: $80-100k+

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and create seasonings and food products, both new and existing, according to project requirements.
• Address technical issues related to flavor creation, food applications, and delivery systems.
• Gain proficiency in our seasonings and processes, and suggest seasonings based on client needs.
• Source new and substitute raw materials for lab experiments.
• Innovate concepts and applications based on market trends for meat, savory, and seasoning products.
• Duplicate existing market products, seasonings, and flavors.
• Test stability of seasonings in various applications, establishing a storage study system.
• Utilize in-depth knowledge of customer products and processes to generate new culinary ideas.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, sales teams, and colleagues regarding project updates.
• Upkeep laboratory equipment and manage supplies.
• Perform sensory tests on seasonings and food products.
• Adhere to project timelines and keep precise, organized project documentation.
• Complete projects or other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree in Food Technology or a related science field.
• Experience: 4+ years in the seasoning sector or 8+ years in the food industry with specific experience focusing on meat and savory product development.
• Additional Skills: Culinary background is beneficial. Creative thinking is essential.

• Work within a controlled lab setting.
• Ability to taste and discern flavor profiles and food products.
• Mix and blend flavors.
• Handle various food-safe chemicals, flavors, and ingredients.
• Frequent use of hand and finger movements.
• Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
• Frequently lift, push, or carry items up to 25 pounds.
• Occasionally lift, push, or carry items up to 60 pounds.
