ABOUT THE ROLE
The Research & Development (R&D) Engineer/Scientist II will work in the area of propulsion component technology development within the Advance Technology organization. This position will develop next generation products and systems as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team. You will be a technical focal point across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams creating solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. As a technical expert in the area of propulsion engine technologies, you will leverage advanced tools and techniques to deliver high impact business results and collaborate with broader engineering teams, where you will influence product and methodology developments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Aerodynamic/Mechanical design and analysis of static/rotating turbomachinery components
Work within a cross-functional team to design, analyze, manufacture, procure and test advanced products and systems for aerospace applications
Support component rig and engine test and model calibration activities
Assist in performing engineering system trade studies and proposals
Support customer/internal design reviews and technical interchange meetings with stakeholders
Assist in creating project plans, including schedules, cost estimates and risk mitigation plans
Hybrid work schedule
Travel: up 10% (US)
Reports to: Sr Engineering Manager
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
MUST HAVE
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
Experience working in a team environment on Engineering related academic (undergraduate/graduate) or industry projects
Experience working in teams of engineers, scientists, or technicians
Instrumentation awareness, test and design experience
Scripting and technical writing experience
Demonstrated ability to self-learn and execute tasks
Excellent time management skills
Must have strong communication and presentation skills
WE VALUE
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
2+ years gas turbine experience or equivalent
Ability to analyze problems in a systematic manner and devise technical solutions
Skills in Finite Element analysis (ANSYS), CAD (any platforms), aero/mechanical design of high temperature components, CFD/CHT (Fluent or Star-CCM+), NX, Matlab, Python, MAPDL (ansys scripting), Microsoft software tools
