R&D Engineering Technician

The role reports to the R&D Team Manager and is located in Richmond, Virginia, As a R&D Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for providing technician support during new product development, customer demonstrations, and validation programs for ABB Power Protection products.
Your responsibilities
Perform type and routine testing using standard and specialized test equipment within the planned testing time, ensuring compliance to the quality and delivery metrics
Prepare and operate test equipment for carrying out specific electrical tests (calibration, dielectric, temperature rise etc.)
Responsible for an organizational process for the lab and implement it among the lab team
Maintain applicable records such as maintenance and qualification records and test reporting
Perform minor equipment maintenance and repairs as needed
Assist the R&D engineering team in assembling Research and development (R&D) prototypes as needed
Develop basic electrical and mechanical CAD skills to help maintain and update lab electrical drawings and other documentation
Your background
Experience with basic electrical work and electrical concepts
Experience working in an ABB Electrical Test Lab
Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools
Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
Ability to manage workload while contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
