R&D Engineering Management Development Associate

Job Description

For more than 80 years, we've led the charge in revolutionizing pet food production and its ability to enrich the lives of pets everywhere. By 1956, through innovative engineering, we literally reshaped pet care, introducing Dog Chow as the first extruded dry food.

We're still at it today, with Tidy Cats, the lightweight cat litter champion of the world and Pro Plan Bright Mind, a breakthrough formula with enhanced botanical oils shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness in aging dogs. Such leadership requires constant innovation. That's where you'll play an integral role.

When you join Nestl Purina as a R&D Engineering Technical Development Associate, you're joining our factory family. You'll play a key role in leading research projects behind the everyday innovation and renovation of our pet food products.

You'll experience information systems, quality assurance, supply chain, accounting and human resources, production, engineering management and operations performance. At the end of your rotation, you'll understand how each of these areas collaborate with your engineering work. Following your experiential learning, you'll work closely with our Corporate R&D team in St. Louis, Missouri to focus on research projects and develop a keen understanding of the science behind our factory equipment and products.

Why engineering with us versus somewhere else? You're taking the fast track to technical understanding and full-time, leadership position. You are the future leader of our business.

Primary responsibilities

  • Monitor product equipment for assigned product responsibilities to maintain optimal performance standards

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts looking at efficiencies and opportunities to streamline processes

  • Develop, scale up, and implement new and existing technologies to improve the performance of existing products and develop new products

  • Handle development and implementation of product line extensions produced using existing as well as new equipment and technology

  • Work effectively with various partners including operators and other factory personnel

  • Willingness to relocate to a Nestl Purina location upon completion of program

  • B.S. in Engineering or expected to attain by June 2020

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior co-op or practicum experience; manufacturing experience; student organization or other leadership experience

Note: This position does not provide sponsorship for employment status (e.g. H-1B visa status). You must have the legal right to work in the United States in order to qualify for one of these positions.
