JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Sensor Analysis and Data Modeling Department of Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory is seeking current or recently graduated students to participate in summer internship opportunities. Selected candidates will conduct research activities related to acoustics, sensor development, signal processing, and sonar. Successful candidates will join a group of scientists and engineers dedicated to advancing acoustics and sonar related technology to meet the needs of the Office of Naval Research, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and Department of Defense.
Typical duties may include:
Support for laboratory and field experimentation.
Data analysis and visualization.
Code development with common engineering software such as MATLAB, Python, C++, and LabVIEW.
Support for computational modeling and data comparison.
Current students or recent graduates in electrical or mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field of science are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will work up to 40 hours/week over the summer. This is a paid internship located at Penn State's University Park campus.
Working location will be fully on-site at the Penn State University Park campus, located in State College, PA. Must be a U.S. citizen to apply. This position may require a government security clearance.
