SUMMARY The successful candidate will join a dynamic team responsible for research, design, and development of state-of-the-art software for electronics reliability analysis.

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of Ansys Sherlock and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand and document customer requirements and accomplish development objectives. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Apply engineering expertise and knowledge of finite element analysis and simulation techniques to develop and validate physics-based failure models. • Lead and complete experiments necessary for new model development, validation, and documentation. • Lead working groups to define and document user-facing requirements for new functionality, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. • Develop technical expertise in one or more simulation areas related to electronics reliability • Submit suggestions for product improvement. File defect reports and verify fixes adhering to defect reporting processes. • Participate in field testing of new releases to ensure that new features and workflows will address customer requirements • On an as-needed basis, support Sales and Marketing by conducting demonstrations, webinars, online training, and other meetings. • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. • Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions. • Provide highest level technical support to internal users and Channel Partners. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Required education and degree type:

BS in Mechanical/Reliability Engineering or related field with 2 years’ experience or MS • Working experience in an engineering software environment • Demonstrated expertise in Electronics Reliability Analysis, i.e. PCBA Solder Fatigue • Established research in an academic or professional setting, high aptitude for mathematics and solid experience in finite element analysis (FEA). • Proven use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Preferred education and years of professional experience in a mechanical engineering software environment: MS3, PhD0 • Demonstrated expertise in Ansys Sherlock • Demonstrated experience leading small technical teams to achieve stated goals. • Expertise in Reliability Engineering, i.e. investigating PCBA failures through physical testing, determining potential design changes through simulation and modeling, etc. • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed
