General Information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Data Scientist for its Technology Center group in their Raleigh, NC location. This position is a data scientist role focusing in R&D projects focusing on artificial intelligence. Our R&D Team is serving global technology development of distribution transformer business. Our business is power equipment manufacturing which involves various business processes from engineering to manufacturing. This position can be in the office or remote work. Candidates will be required to travel up to 15% (globally) based on project needs.

Your Responsibilities:

• Display technical expertise in AI data analytics focusing to a team of diversified technical competencies.

• Propose project initiatives and value-added analytics that will drive business productivity.

• Investigate the use cases and foster collaborations with 3rd parties such as AI service suppliers / universities etc.

• Display a proficiency in the application of machine learning in engineering design process, use of predictive modeling in engineering and manufacturing process, creation and maintenance of data warehouse, business intelligence initiatives and asset diagnostic algorithms.

• Use data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau to create professional quality dashboards and reports.

• Develop predictive models and utilize machine learning/data science techniques such as Hierarchical Clustering, Artificial Neural Networks, Ensemble Learning, Random Forest, Naive Bayes, etc.

• Consolidate SQL database from multiple sources, data cleaning and manipulation in preparation for analytics and machine learning.

Your Background:

• BS in Computer Science, Data Science, or related discipline and at least 2 years of related working experience; OR MS/PhD in related field.

• Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

• Basic knowledge of SQL Server or a similar relational database

• Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI

• Machine Learning algorithm expertise

• Ability to quickly grasp concepts from a field that is not one's core competency; A fast learning generalist capable of solving problem independently and resourceful in matrixed corporate environment.

• Experience with Python (Scikit-learn, XGBoost, Tensorflow, Pytorch, Numpy, Pandas)

• Experience in utilizing cloud-based environment for developing machine learning solutions such as Azure Machine Learning.

• Preferred qualification

• Experience with power product (transformer) or industrial goods manufacturing environment.

• Member of IEEE / Cigre organizations related to transformer technologies.

• Proven record to learn new business background, engineering, and manufacturing process quickly.

• Familiar with modern SDLC and project management process/tools

• Has several publications or patents related to AI applications in industrial goods manufacturing field.
