We are actively seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for 5420 Flight Systems II Department to support Hypersonic and other rocket flight programs, Sandia Principal Engineer Level. You will get to perform architecture development, electronic system design, system integration, and test of flight avionics and missile systems in support of prototype development flight testing. You should have a background in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on design, system design, analysis, software and test. The position requires an application of systems disciplines more than component level point design. You may need to travel to support program interactions, and system integration activities including flight testing at remote test facilities.

Qualifications We Require

  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in STEM and a bachelor's degree in STEM; plus 2 or more years electrical & avionics systems design, analysis, qualification, acceptance, integration and testing of flight systems or components

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team through design, realization, integration, and test

  • Ability to travel (occassional)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain and DOE L level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire

Ideally, your background will include some of the following:

  • Project Leadership Experience

  • Experience with Avionics Component Development and Testing as well as Ground or Flight Testing

  • Electronic Systems and SubSystems Testing and Troubleshooting Experience

  • Embedded Systems Development

  • Ground Support Systems Development and Use

  • Systems Integration using Flight and Test Hardware and Software

  • Cable design

  • Software design and development

  • You possess experience with Design Definition, Configuration Management, Requirements development, tracking, and verification

  • Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-loop or Software-in-the-loop Systems

  • Proven experience working in a Team Environment

  • Fielding and Deploying Systems at Test Locations

  • Active DOE L or Q clearance

On any given day, you may be called on to: * Collaborate on a multi-disciplinary team using a wide range of technologies, including analog and digital electronics, lasers, optical fiber, RF technologies, software and firmware development, and testers * Contribute to research efforts in the areas of high consequence software systems, custom embedded circuit design, wireless network communications, intelligent power conditioning and distribution, navigation systems, and sensors Qualifications We Require * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field * 3 years' experience developing, analyzing, and testing technologies for electrical communications systems applications * Experience in two or more of the following design areas: * Analog circuit design * Embedded system design * FPGA firmware development * Active US DOE Q security clearance Qualifications We Desire * Master's or PhD in the above state field * Ability to balance multiple, sometimes conflicting, priorities and successfully adapt to shifting priorities * Proficiency in written and verbal communication, including preparation and delivery of presentations, proposals, reports, and other documentation * Collaboration and interpersonal skills, including proven abilities in effective leadership, persuasion, delegation, and conflict resolution * Experience working in a fast-paced and technically demanding environment, while solving exciting and complex problems * Experience in the following areas: * Electrical design and simulation tools (e.g. PSpice, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, MATLAB, and LabVIEW) * Test and integration of electronic components and systems * Instrumentation for troubleshooting circuitry (e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, network analyzers, time domain reflectometers, etc.) * Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) in embedded applications * Various communications protocols such as UART Serial, CAN, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C * Software development using C/C++/C#, Java, Python, or LabVIEW * Configuration management of software About Our Team We are responsible for the development and integration of command, control, and communication technologies used in specialized transportation security systems.
