We are actively seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for 5420 Flight Systems II Department to support Hypersonic and other rocket flight programs, Sandia Principal Engineer Level. You will get to perform architecture development, electronic system design, system integration, and test of flight avionics and missile systems in support of prototype development flight testing. You should have a background in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on design, system design, analysis, software and test. The position requires an application of systems disciplines more than component level point design. You may need to travel to support program interactions, and system integration activities including flight testing at remote test facilities.

Qualifications We Require

  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in STEM and a bachelor's degree in STEM; plus 2 or more years electrical & avionics systems design, analysis, qualification, acceptance, integration and testing of flight systems or components

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team through design, realization, integration, and test

  • Ability to travel (occassional)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain and DOE L level security clearance

Qualifications We Desire

Ideally, your background will include some of the following:

  • Project Leadership Experience

  • Experience with Avionics Component Development and Testing as well as Ground or Flight Testing

  • Electronic Systems and SubSystems Testing and Troubleshooting Experience

  • Embedded Systems Development

  • Ground Support Systems Development and Use

  • Systems Integration using Flight and Test Hardware and Software

  • Cable design

  • Software design and development

  • You possess experience with Design Definition, Configuration Management, Requirements development, tracking, and verification

  • Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-loop or Software-in-the-loop Systems

  • Proven experience working in a Team Environment

  • Fielding and Deploying Systems at Test Locations

  • Active DOE L or Q clearance

The Electrical Building Systems Engineer provides strategic direction for acquisition, re-capitalization, operations and maintenance (O&M), and processes for our building electrical systems. This position provides consultation to the Operations Engineers (OEs) on questions regarding building systems affected by projects, operations, and maintenance activities. On any given day, you may be called on to: * Be responsible for Sandia's Design Standards Manual, Standard Drawings, and Specifications for building electrical systems. * Analyze building electrical systems condition and operations data in order to recommend Facility investments. * Develop and maintain a lifecycle asset management plan for building electrical systems to guide investment and O&M decisions. * Provide technical expertise and analysis in support of predictive and preventive maintenance technologies (e.g. thermography). * Review electrical designs for new buildings to ensure compliance with the Sandia Design Standards Manual, Specifications, identify improvements and standard methodologies. * Maintain a broad understanding of site systems, safety systems, and design basis. * Represent site to National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)/DOE on site systems issues and lead Electrical Affinity Group. * Support mission program and capabilities in partnership with Site Strategic Planners. Qualifications We Require * Bachelors of Science degree in an engineering field from an ABET accredited institution plus five (5) years' experience working in the field of electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and related experience. * Experience with current electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E). * Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance Qualifications We Desire * Master of Science in an engineering field from an ABET accredited institution. * Professional Engineers' License (P.E.). or the ability to obtain. * Working in a Facilities organization. * Coordination of power outages. * Developing and implementing a preventative maintenance plan. Position Information This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years. Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance. About Our Team The Building Systems Engineering Department (4851) is responsible for the strategic planning of building systems. The department develops lifecycle asset management plans that guide investment and O&M decisions. The department is responsible for maintaining Sandia's Design Standards Manual, Specifications, and Standard Drawings. The Facilities Controls System (FCS) and Energy Management programs are also part of the Building Systems Engineering Department analyzing building performance across the sites.
