You will be a part of the R&D Engineering Team, a multi-disciplinary team developing instrument systems solutions for Bio-Rad's Life Sciences portfolio, including the biomedical imaging, PCR, microscopy, chromatography, and cell sorting instrument platforms.
You will part of a larger R&D team that has deep talent in mechatronic systems integrating mechanical, electrical, optical and systems engineering with chemistry, biology and software. You will partner and work with talented engineers, chemists, and biologists to develop integrated systems that promote discoveries and advances in life science. This work will span from a product's research stage through its sunset.
Design wide array of electronic modules used in life science instrumentation.
Play important role in the design of system electronic architecture.
Conduct detailed digital, analog and mixed signal circuit designs.
Capture schematic with OrCAD or PADS.
Guide PCB layout ensuring the layout meets DFM requirements.
Lead the PCBA bring-up and verification activities.
Prepare test plans, test reports and theory of operation.
Document design history as needed.
Contribute FMEA analysis.
Investigate field return failures as needed.
Ensure the designs meet timelines and cost targets.
Propose requirements to support test fixture designs used in manufacturing processes.
Lead product reliability testing.
Release product designs in ERP system.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the organization.
BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines
5+ years of experience in product development environments, taking abstract concepts and ideas and formulating a detailed engineering plan to deliver products to market. Electronic/Electrical design experience is required.
Experience with EMC improvement skills required.
Microprocessor based digital circuit design knowledge and experience.
Analog, power supply or motion control design knowledge and experience a plus.
Understanding digital signal processing and control theory is preferred.
Knowledge of meeting reliability targets.
Comfortable with using an electronics simulation tool.
Confident using lab instruments and demonstrated passion in debugging designs.
Experience with design rules to meet safety standards.
Experience with OrCAD or PADS EDA tools.
Experience in a regulated development environment is desired. ISO13485, FDA, or CE IVD experience is strongly desired
Excellent problem solving, organizational, and communication skills are required.
