The R&D Director of the Industrial Network Services Platform (INSP) will report to the VP of R&D, Innovation & Technology organization in Industrial Automation BU. The role will require direct and functional management and coordination of 24 managers, architects & engineers, working respectively in software/software, hardware & architecture and also require coordination across global R&D platforms and other functions (marketing teams, system architecture team members) of I&T organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in developing platform strategy for INSP (Industrial Network Service Platform) into primarily Schneider Electric's Industrial Automation BU offer/solutions, secondarily into other BU products/solutions.

  • Working with Offer team, develop offer strategy for INSP platform (short term & long term)

  • Management of leaders and top skilled senior engineers

  • Responsibility for managing an annual budget

  • Continuously launch new initiatives, adding innovation through technology to the cross-LoB benefit of the Schneider Electric's Bus.

  • Weekly direct interaction with key stakeholders, including R&D VP, Offer Director, Marketing, System Architecture, to ensure engagement on platform adoption and business validation

  • Lead project forecast for INSP development and deployment in Schneider Electric's portfolio tools.

  • Responsibility for cross-platform integration, ensuring wide collaboration between the major platform programs

  • Quarterly status communication to the I&T Management business review.

  • Collaborate, negotiate and manage direct partnerships with external suppliers and production factories for developing hardware proto-types.

  • Development of business cases and service level contracts with all LoB-projects using platforms

  • Interact closely and create links with Schneider Electric's innovation teams and Universities to drive key innovative initiatives with business potential into platforms

  • Technical knowledge necessary for decision making on key technical proposals, coming from the engineering teams

  • Be the leading example of platform leadership/governance for upcoming new platform initiatives within the company.

  • Position will be located at the Andover R&D Center, near Boston, MA.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science

  • At least 10 years of experience in an embedded software development, or technical engineering role

  • At least 5 additional years of experience in a leadership position within a technology or software solutions role, including leading a team of engineers, specialists, and individuals across the business

What do I need to do the role?
