We are seeking an R&D Design Engineer in our Newark, Delaware facility where we produce ceramic composite materials and manufacture products from these advanced materials for the thermal management, defense, industrial, optics and semiconductor industries. This role will carry out various R&D design engineering duties as listed below.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct design related functions for R&D, including CAD, CAM, CMM programming, additive manufacturing, other
Support engineering change (EC) and drawing control activities for R&D group
Participate in prototyping activities in line with 5-year plan, including design, planning and scheduling, documentation, customer interface, supplier interface, and hands-on activities
Participate in Lean/Kaizen events with goals of increasing efficiency, enhancing quality and improving output
Participate in ISO activities for R&D group
Participate in transfer of successful products developed in R&D to manufacturing
Education & Experience
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
1+ years of industrial experience
Classwork and/or job experience with CAD software
Skills
Classwork or certifications a strong plus, such as CAM, GD&T, ISO, Black Belt, CMM, Lean/Kaizen, others
Experience with manufacturing environment, including machining, grinding, lapping, handling and assembly
Experience with inspection equipment, including CMM, interferometer, hand tools, visual tools, etc.
Working knowledge of advanced materials, particularly ceramics
Working knowledge of data analysis tools (SPC, MiniTab and DoE)
Experience with problem solving and resolution (8D, fishbone, etc.)
Hands on aptitude
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience with networked PC based computer system (MS Office, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, Email, etc.)
Working Condition
Physical Requirements
Ability to occasionally lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs.
Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility.
Walk of uneven and slippery surfaces
Safety Requirements
