GENERAL FUNCTION: Cross-functional responsibility for analyzing credit applications and loan/lease files across Direct Lending and Bankcard Credit to support underwriting, auditing (Pre and Post Book Processing), funding (Funding Analyst),securingcollateral and booking. Be responsible for analyzing and compiling information to ensure the accuracy of all documents, including pricing, collateral, and booking for Direct Lending. Prepare and create loan files for audit. Conduct documentaudits,validates data, and takes appropriate actions to reconcile document or file exceptions required for booking secured and unsecured Consumer Lending products (i.e. Home Equity Line of Credit, Home Equity term loans, mobile home loans, DirectInstallmentloans) across multiple states, Markets and geographic regions. Provide superior quality service to internal and external customers. Accept additional projects as assigned.

  • Verification of consumer credit files for Direct Lending, ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions of the Consumer Lending Credit Policy has been met.

  • Performs verification of quality audits of all application system data, compilation of complete and accurate loan files that match application system, pipeline management, funding of loans, and reconciliation of pre-closing and post closingexceptionsand or stipulations.

  • Performs verification and audit of all loan documentation, ensuring that compliance with the terms and conditions of all aspects of the credit approval has been met.

  • Passes files to the funding desk or redraft specialist.

  • Review loan files in process to assure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Approves or rejects loan files presented for booking. Facilitate the process to correct rejected files.

  • Distribute files to the funding desk for appropriate funding process.

  • Communicates with the Funding Desk to ensure the proper and timely disbursement of funds.

  • Maintains efficient processes in order to meet production goals and quality standards as set up by the Consumer Lending Processing Managers and/or Supervisors, to meet business objectives.

  • Anticipates, plans, and executes problem resolution for both internal and external customers.

  • Review exception reporting to ensure all tasks are completed.

  • Coach/train new or less experienced employees on various duties and responsibilities of the department.

  • Handles escalated issues for Operations, Credit or Sales Staff.

  • Assist with customer inquiries from internal and external customers in researching and resolving questions and/or issues related to processing and booking of a loan.

  • Responsible for researching and reporting on aged pipeline loans (Equity line/loan advances).

  • Reviews loan documentation for large or complex loans.

  • Perform various post closing tasks such as: Auditing closed files, creating delivery-servicing packages, follow-up to internal and external customers for needed documents and ensuring all required documents are present in file prior to shippingto

  • Manages images of fax documents via servers and email.

  • Follow up via phone and email to ensure Insurance Binder showing documentation of Fifth Third Bank as Lien holder has been secured.

  • Demonstrate professional quality customer service at all times during phones calls and/or e-mail communication exchanges.

  • Prepares and distributes quality performance reports, recommend process improvements and support implementation.



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 years consumer lending, banking or financial services experience.

  • Customer Service and Follow up skills with Financial Centers.

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Flexibility to multi-task on numerous priorities.

  • Good mathematic ability and analytical skills.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of management and external customers.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong PC skills (MS Office) required, experience with programs such as Word, Excel and Access.

  • ACAPS knowledge preferred.

The Fraud Investigator position is responsible for the detection, prevention and investigation of potential fraud situations. Specific procedural reviews and approved countermeasures are utilized in the daily job performance. This role requires the ability to conduct research; execute various tasks to protect the client and bank; and provide clear documentation of investigations. This position also requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment while effectively multi-tasking. This role must also maintain a balanced perspective to ensure a positive customer experience for both our internal and external customers. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: * Review fraud alerts, queues, and reports to detect & prevent fraud, or refer for further investigation * Review fraud referrals from internal partners to determine appropriate course of action * Effectively execute countermeasures and various mitigation strategies to avoid losses to the bank and to our customers * Collect evidence pertaining to law enforcement requests * Provide branch support for handling of fraud situations for customer incidents * Set up, document, and investigate fraud cases with varying degrees of complexity * Interact with internal and external partners such as operations groups, banking centers, and law enforcement, to resolve and investigate fraud incidents * Ability to complete or direct financial transactions such as right-of-offset, closing balance issue, or charge off requests * Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) as required * Review and process various fraud claims handling forms * Train and mentor fraud team members as required * Testifies in civil or criminal court cases as required * Stays abreast of industry trends and changes in law or regulation * Maintain confidentiality surrounding fraud methods and investigations Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job: * 4-7 years prior fraud or loss prevention experience * Detail oriented with strong research and problem solving skills * Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously * Excellent organizational & communication skills * Ability to work independently * High school diploma or equivalent * Prior investigations experience in credit or banking environment * Some college or industry certification preferred * Willing to work a flexible schedule Preferred Knowledge and Skills: * Level of Complexity and Scope: * Degree of Independence and Decision-Making: * Required Supervisory Responsibilities: * Physical Requirements: * Frequently lifts and carries up to 10 lbs. * Frequently sits, stands, walks and drives.
