Carpenter's Latrobe Specialty Metals operations, based in Latrobe, Pa., manufacture high-performance specialty alloys serving aerospace, energy and other demanding markets. Carpenter acquired Latrobe in 2012 to increase capacity to meet strong customer demand and to broaden the company's product mix. Latrobe employs more than 1,000 dedicated production, maintenance and salaried staff and continues a century-long legacy of leadership in metals technology. Latrobe is part of the corporation's Specialty Alloys Operations division.
RAW MATERIALS ANALYST
Conducts market research and analysis that is used in developing raw material supply strategy and supports tactical decisions.
Prepares management/executive view of commodity market, supply chain, and global supply and demand on annual basis.
Prepares raw material demand forecast and calculates PPV monthly or as needed.
Provides management view of surcharges relative to costs.
Prepares requests for quotes, analyzes and provides bid tabulations, makes recommendations from analysis.
Process raw material orders, address billing errors, prepares, verifies and communicates consignment usage reports and other tasks related to the supply and delivery of raw materials.
Assesses raw material supply chain risk on a regular basis using Lean tools.
Leads conflict mineral compliance.
Design, lead, and take responsibility for Duty Drawback program for entire organization.
Assists in the corrective actions required from internal and external complaints of purchased raw material.
Assists in the development and maintenance of specifications.
Effectively leads and conducts supplier evaluations on a regular basis to drive improved performance. Uses lean tools to effectively reduce non-value added tasks and improve current processes.
May be responsible for sourcing raw materials depending on qualifications and experiences as well as needs driven by department cross training and succession plans.
Create, maintain, and publish performance metrics as defined by Sr. Manager Raw Materials or Director of Procurement.
Perform analysis and presentation of opportunities to support cost reduction or other business needs.
Assist with development of benchmark reports.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Four year college degree; preferable in Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, Chemistry, Materials Science or Metallurgy.
ISM Certification required within two years of employment.
Green belt in Lean or Six Sigma or Lean/Sigma required within first year of employment.
0-5 years of experience; preferably as analyst and depends on education.
Advanced knowledge of market, economic, and other factors which effect continuity of supply.
Proficient in MS Office Suite of Products. Advanced Excel.
Knowledge of SAP, DBS, Permac and Data Warehouse preferred.
Moderate to strong presentation skills.
Ability to work and solve problems effectively in a fast paced environment.
