Department overview:
Global Markets originates trades and sells debt and equity instruments in primary and secondary markets. Nomura's Global Markets business facilitates client transactions for a diverse group of institutions including corporations, governments and investment funds around the globe. In addition, we act as market makers, trading in fixed income and equity securities, currencies, commodities, derivatives as well as structured financial products.
The Rates Sales team develops and maintains strong relationships with institutional clients, including pension funds, hedge funds, insurance companies and other corporate clients.
Role Description / Areas of responsibility:
Partner with senior salespeople in all aspects of client coverage - serving as a leverage point for growing our client business
Organize and track client coverage lists and calling efforts utilizing sales management software
Ensure team has timely access to all internal research and marketing materials
Learn the rates product and stay current on news impacting the Fixed Income markets
Fulfill client requests for information and research efficiently and accurately
On-board clients, process new accounts and update existing accounts
Enter tickets, book trades, send daily pending trades and fail reports
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
1-4 years of experience in a junior sales position in financial services; familiarity with Rates product
In-depth knowledge of global markets and ability to understand financial products
Strong understanding of regulatory environment
Highly energetic with superior understanding of clients' needs
Organized, detail oriented and extremely thorough while having the confidence and communication skills to ensure work processes are completed accurately and appropriately
Strong technical and analytical skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is mandatory
Resourceful and proactive when seeking out information and fulfilling time-sensitive requests
Willingness to work hard as part of a team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting
Undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials
base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
