Education: ADN Licensure:
Current RN license in Missouri Experience: Require minimum 3 years acute care experience including 1 year ER and/or critical care experience. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Other:
Must be comfortable with changing daily responsibilities, multi-tasking, and re-prioritizing to remain organized. The RN must demonstrate the ability to work independently and demonstrate good leadership abilities. Must place interests of the patient first and continually strive to deliver an exceptional experience for every single patient, family member or care giver.
Must be proficient in using MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Understand medical process and terms. Working knowledge of state regulations as well as knowledgeable of care resources. RN may be called upon to assist with the admission and/or discharge process to facilitate patient throughout.
Preferred Education: BSN
Current RN license in Missouri
Preferred Experience: 5 years acute care experience including 1+ year ER, critical care, and cardiovascular experience.
The Rapid Access Nurse collaborates with a variety of care teams to facilitate rapid admission/transfer of patients from external healthcare facilities to Mercy Hospital Jefferson from a variety of sources for all service lines. The Rapid Access Nurse also responds to critical patient situations at Mercy Jefferson such as rapid response team calls. This position requires individuals with developed critical thinking skills, that are service focused and self directed.
Maintains 24/7 availability to Mercy Jefferson for referral processing by receiving admission requests. Provides clinical bed management in collaboration with the house manager for inpatient bed placement based on physician acceptance, acuity, census, specialty, staffing and unit activity. Effective communication and teamwork are essential.
Uses business etiquette while communicating by telephone. Speaks in a clear pleasant voice, introduces self when initiating phone conversation, answers telephone within four rings in a courteous manner, and effectively responds to multiple telephone calls in a busy office atmosphere.
Serve as the rapid response RN on the rapid response team. Responsible for the direct bedside care of patient during emergent situation.
Document according to the rapid response flow sheet and coordinate with patient care team on transfer of patient to higher level of care when needed. Respond to all code Stroke and code STEMI calls. Activate code stroke alert when necessary and initiate cardiac cath team for code STEMI.
Participate in orientation of new co-workers.
Supports the House Manager and Logistics Department as directed
Will be involved in PR, outreach, data collection/entry.
Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, guiding principles and mercy service standards.
Performs other work duties as assigned.
