Oversee the inventory control functions for Retail Operations. Duties include and are not limited to managing outlet(s) and employees in the absence of Retail Manager/Director; maintaining proper stock levels of all merchandise; stocking, organizing, taking inventory of merchandise and returns, assist in retail warehouse operations; assist with various retail activities to include product delivery, on-line support, selling goods and attending to customers on the selling floor, opening/closing duties and processing of paperwork. May assist Manager/Director with various golf duties to include scheduling tee times, and guests with golf carts/clubs, and other related aspects of golf.


  • Carry out all duties assigned by the Manager/Director. In Manager/Director absence, ensure that operations continue in a smooth and efficient manner.

  • Train incoming employees, assign work duties to employees, monitor employees' quality of work and keep the Manager/Director informed of progress achieved.

  • Become proficient in the processing of all retail outlet(s) paperwork requirements to include processing all invoices associated with The Oasis at Death Valley Retail Operations.

  • Ensure proper opening/closing procedures are performed and that the outlet is secure when closed.

  • Emphasize guest courtesy, teamwork, and safety of all employees, at all times. Ensure daily general housekeeping practices are utilized including dusting, stock keeping, and displays.

  • Ensure retail outlet is stocked at prescribed levels, building and maintaining displays for merchandise. Maintain merchandise flow in accordance with The Oasis at Death Valley requirements.

  • Assist during rest periods and meal breaks. Adhere to policies as required by California law.

  • Drive retail vehicle as required, assist with loading and unloading merchandise ensuring merchandise is distributed to correct location(s) as established.

  • Support operation with online retail orders.

  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Two years' experience in ordering and receiving in a retail environment preferred.

  • Two years supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience in sales floor presentation.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Strong computer and mathematical skills.

  • Excellent guest service skills.

  • Maintain Xanterra appearance and grooming standards as established in the Employee Handbook and Retail Department.

  • Must be available to work all shifts to include weekend and holidays.

  • Must have the ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Must possess or obtain a California Food Handler's Card within 30 days of hire. On-site training will be provided.

  • Must possess or obtain a TIPS certification for sellers of alcohol within 30 days of hire. On-site training will be provided.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and have the endurance to function in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to work in environments with extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities * Train, schedule, and supervise warehouse staff. * Oversee the efficient and effective use and maintenance of the Food Trak system. * Implement and maintain proper security and internal controls for purchasing, receiving, and transfer functions with warehouse inventory. * Develop and maintain strong working relationships with corporate purchasing and property departments. * Ensure adherence to company-wide purchasing policies and procedures. * Review and evaluate purchases to ensure quality materials from reliable sources in the most efficient manner at the best prices. * Develop and implement a JIT (Just in Time) purchasing/inventory process to help ensure maximum storage usage and minimize carrying value of the inventory. * Develop and ensure appropriate par levels are maintained and rotate stock in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. * Submit timely reports to management as needed concerning price trends, availability, and recommendations for the development of new or substitute materials. * Develop and implement procedures for identifying slow-moving and obsolete inventory items and make recommendations regarding the use and/or disposal of such items. * Review purchase requests, analyze bids/quotes and determine and/or approve the method of purchase. * Develop and maintain purchasing and warehouse policies and procedures. * Oversee the receiving and distribution functions to ensure the accuracy of orders and quality of merchandise. * Implement and maintain effective and efficient tracking and storage of products. * Track inventories and notify appropriate departments of re-order status. * Participate with all regularly scheduled inventories of the warehouse. * Maintain and update all departmental order guides regularly to ensure accurate items are reflected and ordered by the department through FoodTrak. * Assist on special projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience. * Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent expeience. * 3 years operations management experience preferred. * 2 years purchasing, logistics/distribution and warehouse operations experience. * Excellent PC skills to include Microsoft Office applications (strong Excel experience) and experience with, or the ability to learn, the Food Trak purchasing/inventory system. * Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills demonstrated in a fast-paced customer-oriented environment. * Valid driver's license. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with other departments. Physical Demands: * The ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. and withstand lots of walking, standing, stooping and turning. * Must have the endurance to function in a fast-paced and high-stress environment. * Overtime is expected and required.
