Position Essentials: Repairmen will be responsible for all aspects of railcar repair and maintenance including essential inspection, removal or parts, fabrication, welding, and any other repair functions necessary to prepare railcars per FRA/AAR requirements. As a Repairman, you must be a dependable and safety-conscious person with a strong mechanical background. Be able to work independently or in a small team and be able to perform essential tasks without direct supervision. Safety is the number one priority with Road & Rail Services so it is vital that all company guidelines and safety procedures are followed and met while on the job.

Summary of skill set for position:

  • Committed to a Safety culture that is Injury and Incident free;

  • Minor welding experience preferred;

  • Has proven experience in use of cutting torch and use of related tools and gauges;

  • Knowledge in FRA and AAR freight car standards preferred. Be able to detect defects and make necessary repairs.

Required Work and Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be able to constantly work in an outdoor environment, exposed to all weather elements, including extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions;

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, and being on call;

  • Must be able to frequently climb, using various types of ladders, to heights in excess of 16 feet;

  • Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.

Conditions of Employment: Employment is conditional, based on a medical examination which includes a drug screen, and an examination to verify candidates can safely perform the essential functions of the job. Road & Rail Services requires a post-offer motor vehicle reference check, and background check. Employment and military (if applicable) verification required.
