We currently have an opening for a Rail Engineer in our Transportation & Infrastructure division. This mid-level position can be based in either our Los Angeles or Irvine, CA offices.

Our rail group takes on a diverse range of assignments including freight rail, commuter rail, light rail, high speed rail and subway, giving our staff exciting opportunities to learn diverse, highly-specialized skills while making a real impact on the development of major infrastructure projects. Our local designers work on some of the largest and most iconic projects in Southern California and across North America.

Working under the direction of a Project Manager or discipline lead, candidate will be responsible for preparing designs and managing junior rail design staff, document preparation and production, coordinating with other disciplines and quality. The ability to interact well with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams is preferred. The ideal candidate is an individual who is a team player, highly proactive and motivated to grow within a dynamic and expanding industry.

Candidate will specialize in the planning and engineering design of rail transportation infrastructure projects. Responsibilities will include design, field inspection and providing design services during construction in traditional design-bid-build and design-build project environments. Candidate may participate in business development and proposal writing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related degree

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred but not required

  • Minimum of three years of experience in railroad or rail transit design

  • Technical knowledge in the following areas:

  • Railroad or rail transit alignment design

  • Trackwork and special trackwork design

  • General site/civil design for railroad or transit projects

  • Rail maintenance facility layout expertise is preferred

  • Coordination with rail systems design is preferred

  • Coordination with drainage design

  • Coordination with utility design

  • Coordination with electrical, mechanical, structural and all other engineering disciplines is preferred

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation InRoads proficiency is required
