Job Summary: Summary
Responsible for moving freight, stock, or other materials over short distances from railcars to trucks.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Uses safe work procedures that comply with safety policies and regulations.
Move freight, stock and other materials by hand.
Load or unload railcars or trucks.
Unloads and inspects incoming materials and verifies receipts.
Keeps records of materials received.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Keeps facility yard clean and organized.
Maintain & clean vehicles, machinery and other equipment.
Driver's License preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the following physical abilities:
Walk and stand for long periods of time.
Climb up and down ladders of 100' or more and steps.
Hear back up alarms/other noises suggesting danger.
Crawl in and around vehicles, equipment ,railcars, etc.
Lift and move up to 100 pounds unassisted on a regular basis.
Good vision, far and close, good eye/hand coordination, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
This position may require you to wear a half mask respirator at times and therefore, you will be required to be fit tested. Per OSHA "The Respiratory Protection standard, paragraph 29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A), states that respirators shall not be worn when facial hair comes between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interferes with valve function.
Facial hair is allowed as long as it does not protrude under the respirator seal, or extend far enough to interfere with the device's valve function. Short mustaches, sideburns, and small goatees that are neatly trimmed so that no hair compromises the seal of the respirator usually do not present a hazard and, therefore, do not violate paragraph 1910.134(g)(1)(i).
The work environment is a typical shop environment that includes exposure to:
Moving equipment and mechanical parts.
Cement and other chemicals.
Moderate to extremely loud noise.
All types of weather, including rain, wind and extreme temperatures.
Dust, smoke and fumes.
Working at heights of 100'+
A strong mechanical aptitude is highly desired.
Ability to operate a front end loader and/or a forklift is preferred.
General knowledge of hand tools and general maintenance practices, such as but not limited to, greasing, checking fluids, fixing air leaks, etc. is highly desired.
