Your Key Responsibilities

Our client is one of the largest EPC firms in the nation.Touching oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, and much more.They are looking to expand their internal Rail Design team to meet their ever growing expansion in the Civil and O&G industries.

Manage teams of up to 5 or more people
Review and control project scope, schedule and budget for industrial rail projects
Responsible for mentoring and professional development of junior staff
Motivate staff to meet team goals and objectives
Establish and meet goals and objectives for the team; contribute to communication planning
Lead risk analysis, planning and control
Contribute to risk management outcomes
Develop progressively more-complex written reports
Communicate with company staff on tasks and projects
Experience managing business relationships at senior management level

Skills Required

10+ years experience in railway track engineering
Must have a strong technical understanding of track alignment and track form design for standard trackwork, special trackwork, ballasted and non-ballasted track and associated grading and drainage
Experience with grading, drainage, and track alignment design for mainlines, sidings, industrial yards and spur tracks, intermodal and transload facilities, subway, commuter and light rail transit
Ability to complete conceptual plans, preliminary & detailed designs and cost estimating.
Track construction, staging and phasing experience an asset.
Local Transit and Heavy Rail project experience an asset.
Design Build Experience preferred.
Preferred Software experience - AutoCad, MicroStation, Civil 3D, In Roads, In Rail,MX Rail, Bentley Rail Track, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Bachelor Degree from an accredited University engineering program, or equivalent
P.E. in the State of TX required.

VIEW JOBS Basic Functions Provides Project Management support for Rail Operations projects in program integration, safety improvement, development efforts, scheduling, coordination, quality assurance, installation, and contractor management and procedures. Provides technical oversite support for rail signaling, track maintenance and traction power systems. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. Responsibilities and Specific Duties * Plans various oversite of design aspects of rail systems projects to support safety and efficiency of operations and maintenance activities. Interprets and reviews design submittals, including drawings, descriptions and schematics. * Provides oversite support to Rail Operations in identifying design defect issues and assists with resolution. Develops and implements appropriate solutions for safety-related issues. * Develops recommendations to senior management and provides reports related to safety improvements. * Develops and implements rail contingency and disaster recovery plans to ensure continual functioning of rail specific mission critical operations. * Reviews appropriate industry standards; American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way (AREMA), American Public Transportation Association (APTA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), etc. and incorporates those standards into oversite work and design procedures. * Reviews system failures and provides support to assist with trend analysis. * Provides review, tracking and control of system upgrades, modifications and software enhancements. * Maintains and updates document control to include software changes, schematic and drawing changes. * Prepares and reviews technical specifications for Traction Power and Signaling Systems. * Develops equipment specifications for capital purchases. * Manages creative solutions within budget constraints. * Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering is required Minimum ten (10) years' experience working in the rail-way industry to include experience directly related to track, traction power, signaling and/or rail civil infrastructure. Must have strong knowledge of systems used in a light rail transit environment to include Signaling, OCS, Track and Civil Works. Working knowledge of Traffic Engineering and Light Rail Vehicles. Exceptional decision making and organizational skills. Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills. Proficient in MS Office suite, Project Management, AutoCAD or similar software. State of Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. VIEW JOBS Basic Functions Under the direction of the Senior Director, Rail Operations is responsible for overseeing the design, manufacture, testing and acceptance of all new Light Rail Vehicles (LRV). Works closely with engineers, consultants and suppliers to mange the day-to-day activities of the Rail Vehicle Maintenance section. Plans and executes the capital replacement cycle of vehicle systems and equipment. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. Responsibilities and Specific Duties * Provides primary managerial direction and performs personnel administrative functions of direct report staff (e.g. training, supervising, work assignments, timesheets, performance evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff and ensuring necessary department outcomes are achieved. * Provides input to the vehicle supplier during light rail vehicle design, manufacturing, testing and commissioning stages to ensure the highest level of maintenance standards and equipment life can be achieved. * Coordinates vehicle testing and commissioning program with vehicle supplier and ultimately accepts the vehicles for revenue service. * Ensures LRV equipment is maintained to the highest level of safety standards and in accordance with APTA recommended practices and guidelines. * Ensures that a sufficient number of safe, reliable, clean and well-maintained rail vehicles are available to meet service requirements. * Works with engineers, consultants and suppliers to resolve complex LRV operating and maintenance issues. * Review and investigate causes of equipment failure. * Supports system integration testing activities as required. * Develops annual capital and operating budges for the LRV Maintenance section. * Works closely with METRO Material Controls group to ensure an adequate number of LRV spare parts are available to support revenue operations. * Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. * Performs other job related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred. Minimum ten (10) years of increasingly responsible LRV maintenance experience. Experience with new transit rail car procurement programs and start-up experience is preferred. Minimum five (5) years supervisory/management experience in a rail maintenance environment is required. Strong knowledge of practices and principles of diagnosis, maintenance and repair of rail vehicles and equipment, and preventive maintenance. Must be able to work well with engineers, consultants and suppliers to resolve complex issues related to systems equipment, vehicle commissioning and ongoing maintenance activities.
