General Statement ofDuties:
Responsible to maintaintechnical skills needed to perform radiologic procedures and for the use ofequipment to minimize hazards and maximize patient safety. Duties includeproper operation of all x-ray equipment, developing images, use of the PACSsystem and digital equipment and preparing x-ray room for use.
Essential Job Functions:
1.The technologist mustbe able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care topediatric, adolescent, geriatric and adult patients.
2.Demonstratescompetency in areas of general diagnostic radiography, use of digitalequipment, knowledge of the PACS system, positioning, procedure preparation andtechnical factors.
3.Responsible for theproper use of Computer System (scheduling exams, patient tracking, imagetracking, proper completion of exams, capture charges).
4.Understands andfollows infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all jobtasks.
5.Accommodatesinpatients or requests for urgent exams as the need arises.
6.Possess the abilityto assess a situation, consider alternatives and choose an appropriate courseof action.
Minimum Education,Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and OtherJob-Related Characteristics:
1.Education: One of thefollowing:
A. Certificate ofTraining in Radiologic Technology Program
B. Associates of Scienceor above in Radiologic Technology
3.Employee completesinitial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line,facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patientpopulation served (if applicable).
Current or previousexperience in the hospital setting to include PACS system anddigital radiology.
Minimum License,Certificates, or Registrations Required:
Must have and MaintainMedical Radiologic Technologist Certification from Texas Department of Health
American Registry ofRadiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
