Promotes quality patient care through the performance of diagnostic and invasive CT scan procedures utilizes appropriate technique, established protocols, physician directions, and age specific guidelines. Maintains thorough knowledge of contrast agents, CT scanners, injector systems, supplies, radiation safety and quality assurance guidelines and applies such knowledge in day to day performance of duties.

Hours of operation: 24 hours/7 days



  • One year experience in CT imaging.

  • Two years' experience in Radiography (requirement may be met through completion of the clinical phase of a two year approved radiology technology program).


  • Current Texas Department of State Health Services License.

  • Current BCLS certification.


Graduate from an approved/accredited School of Radiologic Technology required.


  • Technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills relevant to area in order to effectively communicate with physicians, health team members, patients and families.

  • Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision, in order to independently carry out the duties of the position.

  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Additional languages preferred.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

The ideal candidate must be BSN and a licensed RN with a minimum of 3 years clinical nurse. Successful completion of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center New Graduate Nurse Residency Program can be substituted for two of the three required years of clinical nursing experience. The typical schedule for this position will be mid-shift 9:00/9:30 am – 5:30/6:00 pm; Candidate must have flexibility to support operations as needed outside of those hours Monday-Friday. The primary purpose of the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Assistant Nurse Manager position in Interventional Radiology is to assist in overall clinical operations, staff management and the coordination of patient care and customer services. The Assistant Nurse Manager affects the patient care and 24/7 operations of assigned patient care area(s). KEY FUNCTIONS Transformational Leadership: Implements and monitors unit budget to respond in a cost effective manner to changing patient, staff and multidisciplinary team requirements and strengthen unit. Assists in preparation and delivery of unit staffing plans considering skill mix, staff and patient care requirements. Analyzes plans for compliance with established budget. Maintains required staffing level and coordinates nursing schedules. Collaboratively coordinates staffing schedules and posts in advance according to guideline standards. Manages the daily productivity in the assigned area(s) by flexing staff as needed. Assures continuity of care as patients' transition across the continuum through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Practice with autonomy within the scope of professional nursing Structural Empowerment: Helps manage human resource activities for all clinical and clerical staff including recruitment, retention, supervision, evaluation and productivity. Participates in identifying, recruiting, developing and retaining top talent through effective communication, performance management, career counseling, and conflict resolution. EXPERIENCE Required: Three years of clinical nursing experience. Successful completion of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center New Graduate Nurse Residency Program can be substituted for two of the three required years of clinical nursing experience. Preferred: Three years of clinical nursing experience; to include experience as a Charge Nurse; procedural experience or experience in the ICU or ER. LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
