Brigham and Women's Harbor Medical Associates is part of the Brigham and Women's Physicians Organization and is a multispecialty, primary care practice with more than 65 physicians in our several offices on the South Shore.

Under the general direction and supervision of a Clinical Manager incumbent performs a variety of patient duties related to the operation radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic images. Explains safety protocols and routine diagnostic procedure to patients. Performs a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures with speed, proper technique, and accuracy utilizing various radiographic equipment such as fluoroscopic, portable and diagnostic equipment related to the area(s). Staff will be required to rotate among radiology clinics associated with Brigham Health as needed.
1.Performs duties such as transporting, transferring, immobilizing and positioning
2.Explains exam to patient taking into consideration physical and emotional needs;
maintaining ethical standards. (Patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc.) Delivers
patient care under scope of license/training
3.Calculates and selects proper exposure factors utilizing the principles of ALARA,
operates all equipment as required; acquires and processes Images; properly identifies
images with patient I.D. and appropriate markers in order to obtain quality diagnostic
4.Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards; assists
physicians in administering contrast media, practices universal technique, and performs first aid
5.Adjusts lead shield(s) and collimates to protect unaffected parts of the body from
exposure to radiation. Directs personnel to safe areas before exposure.
6.Maintains a high level of quality assurance for finished images, and a safe and clean
work environment. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of assigned areas.
7.Uses the approved Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that are Integrated with the Department of Radiology to keep patient data up-to-date such as scheduling, tracking, along with appropriate Image Services(PACS) and maintenance responsibilities.
8.Rotates among radiology clinics associated with Brigham Health, by shifts as required and needed; cooperates with all personnel, promoting harmony within department. Maintains effective working relations and communication with departmental and other

9.Acquires and maintains knowledge of Radiation Safety, Hospital and Departmental
Policies. Attends staff meetings, in-services, and maintains appropriate CEU's in
accordance with Massachusetts's state licensure and ARRT (American Registry of
Radiologic Technologists) requirements.
10.Maintains knowledge of location of emergency equipment, code carts and procedures
to alert Code Teams.
11.Performs other related duties including; reception, Image Services and Escort
functions as necessary.
12. Assists Radiologic Technologist students and new staff in performing Radiologic
exams, sterile technique, and proper stocking of supplies in radiographic rooms.
Must have graduated from an approved formal Program in Radiologic technology
Be Registered or eligible for certification in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent is required. Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT or equivalent Radiography certification and registration within one year of start of employment.
Incumbent must possess a valid Massachusetts license as a Radiologic Technologist in the category of Radiography.
0 - 2 years 'experience as a Radiologic Technologist
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology medical terminology, principles of radiation physics, ALARA, radiographic positioning and radiographic equipment
Must effectively use interpersonal and communication skills to deal with patients and fellow employees who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
Must be able to read and interpret orders.
Must be able to comprehend complex information and use independent judgment in a variety of situations. Must be able to recognize emergency situations and responds appropriately.
Must be physically capable of lifting, (linen, supplies, patients etc.).
This role is a 10 hour/week weekend position. Hours for this role are:
Saturday 9 am until 3 pm
Sunday 9 am until 1 pm
