Radiology Systems Support Specialist

The Radiology Systems Support Specialist is the point of contact for Radiology support staff. They assist with the support of Radiology Ancillary and Support System functions.

Essential Functions:

• Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the appointment scheduling system with timeliness and accuracy.

• Ability to multi-task in several computer applications while holding a conversation with a client.

• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written).

• Excellent interpersonal skills with an orientation towards professionalism and customer service.

• Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy required.

• Flexibility to quickly adapt to any new business environment.

• Reviews all incoming orders to scheduling department for CPT, diagnosis, and credentialing accuracy.

• Manages and maintains patient scheduling for Radiology modalities.

• Communicates with admitting physician's office, appropriate hospital unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding appointments to exchange necessary information and determine placement.

• Transmits images to offsite entities as requested by medical release documents.

• Ensures accuracy of Radiology requisition and orders.

• Maintains files and office equipment.

• Keep work area stocked with supplies.

• Assists staff physicians with patient reports and routes questions/issues to the Radiology Manager.

• Monitors scheduling and assignment of departmental support personnel to support departmental needs and

• workload.

• Provides new employees with detailed instruction and performance standards.

• Assist in monitoring and maintenance of RIS and scheduling modules.

• Assist in documentation of and transmission of images.

• Burns images onto CDs from the PACS system for mail out or patient/courier pickup.

• Scan written documents into PACS system upon request.

• Mail out requested imaging records.

• Adhere to all Departmental and Hospital policies and procedures.

• Performs other duties as directed by the Radiology Director and/or Radiology Manager.

Minimum Education

• High School graduate, associate degree preferred.
• A college course in medical terminology and prior medical scheduling experience is desired.

Required Skills

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Advanced computer skills necessary; type 35 words per minute with high degree of accuracy. Possess good communication skills and adapt well to changing work demands.

Minimum Work Experience

• Radiology systems experience preferred. Meditech systems experience preferred. Microsoft Office software is required. Basic healthcare knowledge is required.
