Job Summary

Radiology Service Technician II provides technical and on call support for the analysis, maintenance, calibration, installation, and upgrades of all assigned diagnostic imaging equipment. Demonstrates technical support for all modalities of diagnostic imaging. Conducts safety inspections on assigned diagnostic imaging equipment and meets local and federal regulatory guidelines. Maintains assigned diagnostic imaging equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree in Science, Biomedical Technology or a related field or equivalent Military education

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Six (6) years of experience in maintaining diagnostic imaging equipment including Radiographic/Fluoroscopic (RF) rooms, Diagnostic Ultrasounds, Portables, Bone Density Equipment, and Imaging Tables.

  • Working knowledge of digital radiology systems, computer networking, and programming.

  • Working knowledge of computer hardware and software including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Working knowledge of industry standards and regulations.

  • Must have physical strength, proper coordination, and motor skills to perform assigned tasks.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Meets regulatory and department guidelines of 95% or above through Preventative Maintenance completion for diagnostic imaging equipment each month.

  • Meets departmental goal of less than five days for "Open Repair Work Order Average".

  • Meets productivity goal of 85% of worked hours documented in the database.

  • Provides maintenance and technical support for diagnostic imaging equipment including but not limited to: (RF) rooms, Diagnostic Ultrasounds, Portables, Bone Density Equipment, and Imaging Tables.

  • Meets established department guidelines.

  • Coordinates outside support activities with vendors and clients to obtain completion of equipment support activity and ensures all activities are documented.

  • Evaluates and recommends new ideas for improving imaging equipment quality, safety, and service.

  • Maintains a safe and clean workplace environment. Demonstrates knowledge and behaviors related to environmental, employee and patient safety requirements.

  • Participates in leading special projects and department champion opportunities and mentoring other department staff.

  • Participates in Annual Technical Competency to establish future training needs and satisfy regulatory obligations.

  • Coordinates nursing in-service on equipment operational issues to reduce operator errors while improving patient quality of care.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
