Serves as functional expert regarding the software capabilities and performance of the Department Information Systems including Siemens Radiology Information System (RIS), Sectra PAC system and other Department developed databases, as well as, their interfaces with the Hospital information systems. Under the direction of the Manager provides support and facilitates training to Department Employees on Radiology Information System(s) and policies and procedures. Act as a liaison in digital imaging initiatives within the Imaging department and other departments. Responsible for the implementation of new systems and identifying new avenues of efficiency that can be gained from these technologies.

Required Skills

  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Possesses effective intrapersonal and critical thinking skills.

  • Proficiency in office automation systems, RIS, and voice recognition.

  • Excellent knowledge of client server technology, security practices, relational databases and system documentation requirements.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Ability to do systematic, thorough problem solving, and to initiate client problem resolution.

  • Ability to utilize computer software applications to include word processing, spreadsheets and graphic presentations.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Required ExperienceA. Work Experience

Three years' experience in Clinical Radiology Service. One year experience in operating and/or operation of a Radiology Information Systems. One year of experience working with PACS and digital systems. Prior experience with hardware and software implementation, computer network administration and management experience is preferred.

B. License/Registration/Certification

  • Texas Certified Medical Radiological Technologist, M.R.T.
  • ARRT Radiography required
  • C.P.R. certified required

C. Education and Training

Associate's degree in Radiology from an accredited program, with four (4) years experience working with digital systems.

New graduates must complete registry within 6 months of hire date. * All Sonographers must be certified at required program level at time of the respective department inspection by the American College of Radiology (ACR) or at onset of accreditation renewal.
