Status: Part Time
Responsible for the clerical workflow in the Radiology department. This job entails handling the check in process for all outpatients, coordinating information for all patient exams and ensuring patient exam results are finalized and funneled to the appropriate persons. Problem solving and superior customer service is a focus of this position.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
Assists in checking images in and out of the file room to physicians, physician offices, and others.
Assists in giving reports over the phone to Physicians, physicians' offices and others.
Prints images from PACS system and burns CDs on Pacscube as needed.
Utilizes computer to look up patients in Epic radiology information system.
Mails outside films back to original institution.
Assists in faxing reports to Physicians, physicians' offices and others.
Greets patients in a professional manner.
Checks on status of patients and directs patients and physicians to correct area of department.
Assists patients by providing directions to various areas within the hospital.
Transcribes orders into Epic for all x-rays to be done including those requested by Patient Access, Eastpoint and Middletown.
Checks for orders in the OnBase system when unavailable in Epic. If no order is available, calls office of referring physician to obtain correct order for the patient.
Instructs patients as to method of preparation for exams.
Periodically checks the waiting areas to make sure no one has waited an excessive length of time.
Assists, as needed, other office personnel.
Notifies patient access when patients have not been registered. If no one from patient access is sitting at the reception desk, calls to have patient registered over the phone.
Informs/reminds patients of copays that are due at time of service and sends them to the correct location to pay.
Has patient sign consent forms, when applicable.
Scans insurance cards and other documents, as needed.
Makes sure that reports are sent to additional doctors when requested by patient at check in.
Communicates with patients family members about whereabouts, status of exam ect. Also walks family members to patient when allowed.
Coordinates patient multiple exam times with modalities to ensure the best patient care and efficiency,
Communicates with the radiologist when an exam status is changed per the ordering physician.
Answers phone promptly, identifies self and department and is able to help callers.
Ensures that reports are typed STAT when requested.
Handles correction to reports for the Radiologist.
Prepares films/imaging from Baptist Worx, BMA and Prompt Care locations to be read daily by our radiologists.
Corrects reports for Baptist Worx, BMA and Prompt Care locations and faxes them to the appropriate locations.
Coordinate and deliver paperwork from outside facilities that are read by our radiologist.
Works with Radiologists, Technologists and Transcriptionists to solve any problems or questions that arise.
Picks up and delivers all departmental mail from mailroom and the shipping department.
Reports equipment problems to the appropriate personnel.
Calls to the nursing staff to give information about patients' results.
Stock supplies for front desk daily
Checks out radiology imaging and reports by verifying patient information and obtaining correct verification.
Monitors QC Required list in Impax and calls modalities to alert them to tests that need to be made New.
Checks the schedule for the following day to see if there is additional testing to be done and makes a note in Epic if so.
Help cover the Mammography desk when needed and check in their patients.
Facilitates incoming and outbound phone calls for our radiologists. Takes detailed message if need be.
Loads outside imaging and reports to PACS.
Documents via Quick Disclosure when radiology reports and images are released.
Monitor any STAT exams that are entered throughout 2nd shift and calls in the corresponding tech when need be.
Sort paperwork to be sent to Medical Records and ensures proper information is listed on each document.
Keeps a current radiologist dry erase board and updates throughout the day as needed.
Request prior imaging as needed for tests performed.
Maintains a flexibility to work in whatever area needed.
Monitors 3DR status on patients and makes "new" when ready.
Monitors cardiac CT's in PACS and follows procedure to completion.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
A. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
B. 1-2 years' experience in a healthcare/customer service setting
