Position Summary: Under the direction of the radiology administrator or designee is responsible for communication, registration and scheduling for various radiology procedures. To perform all phases of clerical duties include receiving and logging of patient information, scheduling, filing, typing, transport, answering phones, and assisting as back-up as needed in the radiology department. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following: 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors 2. Abides by scheduling policy 3. Notifies floors or radiology staff if any planned schedule change 4. Will be required to work in case of emergencies or when situations arise in the department. Holiday, overtime and / or day, evening shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department 5. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or supervisor. 6. Prints CDs if needed 7. Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, documents information on patientsrequest, Meditec or hospital Ris systems and PACs digital x-ray system 8. Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors 9. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor 10. Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults and geriatric groups 11. Performs other related duties as required, attends staff meetings and in-services 12. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital 13. Prioritizes and organizes own work load and routine administrative matters to assure completion of tasks within the time frame designated 14. Coordinates follow up of all customer service and satisfaction matters as directed 15. Informs supervisor if office or clinical supplies are needed Education Experience Requirements: High school Diploma/GED required. Have general knowledge of typing, computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology. Recommended; being a highly motivated, positive person with strong communication and organizational skills. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed on the hospitals SDS (Safety Data Sheet) database and accessed through the hospitals Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS database can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. Ability to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time Constantly utilizes/operates computers to access information Constantly scans documents from computer and other scanning locations Ability to communicate to physicians and other hospital employees regarding requests for information and assist physicians with basic chart completion procedures Ability to view and print microfilm records Retrieves paper reports/documents from nursing departments/units 10% of the time Primary Population Served: Neonatal (birth 28 days) Patients with exceptional communication needs Infant (29 days less than 1 year) Patients with developmental delays Pediatric (1 12 years) Patients at end of life Adolescent (13 17 years) Patients under isolation precautions Adult (18 64 years) Patients with cultural needs Geriatric (65 years) X All populations Bariatric Patients with weight related comorbidities Non-patient care population The responsibilities and tasks outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of White Plains Hospital.
