Summary:
The Radiology Aide demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This individual, under general supervision and/or detailed instruction, assists the technologists in preparing patients and examination rooms for diagnostic imaging procedures, and is involved in close patient contact throughout the procedure, performing basic patient care duties; transports patients to and from Imaging and Diagnostic Services Department; processes patient x-ray films using an automatic processor; and performs a variety of clerical functions such as sorting, filing and film retrieval. The Radiology Aide has clinical contact with patients in all age groups (neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.

Has clinical contact with patients in all age groups (neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.
The main responsibilities for this position are:
Escorts patients to and from waiting rooms to respective subdepts. Provides appropriate gowning instructions. Answers patients questions about exam.
Cognizant of all in-patients and out-patients in department and provides excellent customer service by constant communications to patients about their time in the department, i.e. how long they have to wait, whether the exam is completed, their comfort level, etc.
Assists radiographers during procedures. Hands and flashes correct cassettes.
Assists in moving patients on exam tables. Records clinical information per protocol. Prepares barium supplies, sets up trays, and readies equipment.
Transports patients between Imaging and Diagnostic Services Department and other departments and nursing units.
Uses proper technique in handling and transporting IVACs, IV poles, oxygen, catheters and other patient equipment.
Performs filing and other clerical duties as necessary.
Answers phones, transfers calls and relays messages
Cleans and prepares radiographic rooms between procedures; maintains supplies for radiographic rooms.
Maintain cleans linen and gown supply; responsible for disposal of soiled linen.
Maintains proficiency in all computer functionally necessary to perform job duties(EPIC, RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.) Performs other duties as assigned.
Other information:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current BLS or completed within six months of hire.
Six months or more experience in a hospital setting or physician office.
Six months or more PC/computer experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and the public.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current BCLS Six months or more experience in a hospital setting or physician office. Six months or more PC/computer experience.
