Summary of Position

Red Rocks Community College is seeking a Radiologic Technology Instructor to act as the representative of the college at the clinical site, traveling to clinical settings to provide instruction to students and maintain communication with clinical site staff. Mileage compensation provided.

There is also an optional opportunity for additional hours as a lab instructor, training students in the x-ray procedures lab.

Essential Responsibilities

Essential responsibilities of the Radiologic Technology Instructor position may include, but not be limited to:

Classroom/Course Instruction: Required to meet all class periods and start and end classes promptly.

Teach assigned curriculum and make use of required texts and materials. Use technology to facilitate learning including meeting the required minimum standards for the use of the College learning management system Desire2Learn (D2L. Advise, mentor and train students to help them develop the necessary skills and attitudes needed to perform as radiologic technologists. Act in a supportive role to the program and to faculty teaching the curriculum, ensuring that instruction is consistent and effective

Communication: Respond timely to students and RRCC staff every 24-48 hours during the class term and for at least one week after grades are submitted.

Attend department staff meetings throughout the semester as scheduled. Maintain effective communication with the Clinical Coordinator, Program Director, Clinical Preceptors and other clinical site staff.

Service: Maintain updated and accurate grading records in D2L and submit all final grades by the due date in the college student information system, Banner.

Provide consistent and timely feedback to students regarding progress and grades on assignments. Prepare for each class meeting and consider learning strategies that address diverse learning styles and a diverse community college student population. Class content and assessment methods should relate to course objectives.

The instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program.

Professional development activities are a part of service. Activities include:

Actively participate in program events, meetings, trainings and assessment activities. Additional activities may include serving as the College representative on a local board or commission, making community or professional presentations, serving as a liaison to local schools, or serving as an elected or appointed member of local boards as a representative of the College.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: AAS Degree in Radiologic Technology. ARRT Registered Technologist in Radiography RT(R)

Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) or more years of paid clinical experience in radiologic technology.

Experience with course development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising. Experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of individuals from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Ability to work from campus (primarily our Arvada campus with occasional hours at the Lakewood campus).Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and typically underrepresented groups. Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction.

Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom where appropriate. Knowledge of computer applications. Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Knowledge of instructional objectives and course development techniques. Skills with managing, preparing, and delivering courses in the classroom and in the field. Ability to give and receive oral and written instructions and procedures.

Physical and Cognitive Demands:The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position:

  • Constantly uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.

  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports classroom and office equipment and supplies weighing up to 10 lbs.

Department Information:The Radiologic Technology department offers an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Radiologic Technology. This JRCERT accredited degree program prepares students for a career in x-ray imaging as a Radiologic Technologist.

The program is full-time, starts in the Fall, and spans 21 month/5 semesters. Instruction occurs primarily at the Arvada campus, but also via online coursework and clinical internship at medical facilities.

Work Environment and Typical Work Schedule (Dates and Times): Works directly with clinical affiliates and radiologic technology staff. Interacts with a variety of collegeemployees at various levels within the organization.Work is generally performed in the clinical and/or x-ray laboratory environments, during general office hours M-F 8:00 AM 5:00 PM. May require hours outside of regular office hours, and occasional weekend hours.Year-round hours available.
