Position Summary The Radiologic Technologist will work under the supervision of the Radiology Administrator and/or designee. Performs routine andsome special procedure imaging.

Prepares patient for procedures. Assists radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates and cares forthe equipment being used.

Develops/processes film/CDs when needed. Adheres to established radiology standards of care. Appliesprinciples of radiation protection, when appropriate to minimize exposure to patient, self and others.

Assumes responsibility forassigned area and duties.

Adheres to practice wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned, such as qualityassurance.

Performs diagnostic and some special procedure medical radiographic images. Exercises professional judgment inperformance of procedures. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1.

Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. 2. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocolincluding proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires. 3. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed examsfor quality, completeness for the type of test ordered. 4.

Assists physicians during practice-based procedures as necessary. 5. Performs equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed, orders supplies. 6. May be required to work holidays, overtime and/or day, evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safecoverage for the outpatient facility. 7.

Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med orsupervisor. 8. Processes images, or prints CDs if needed. 9.

Performs routine office tasks, such as answering phones, checking-in patients, obtaining previous reports/films, orother related duties as needed. 10. Shows radiologist films and calls reports to the attending physician and documents communications if necessary (wet readings). 11. Provides clinical instructions to students. 12.

Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the WPHs behavioral standards. 13. Introduces self and educates each patient or family member regarding the examination that is ordered. 14. Knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populationsincluding neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults and geriatric groups. 15.

Performs other related duties as required, attends staff meetings and in-services. Education Experience Requirements ï'· The Radiologic Technologist must be a graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school orhospital-basedprogram. NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.

ARRT registered (RT) andradiograph (R). ï'· Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Currentstandards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on year of birth. ï'· DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6 month orientation. ï'· BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 daysof hire. ï'· Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology(ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before end of probationary period. Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements Work Environment: ï'·ï€ May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to arelisted in the hospitals SDS (Safety DataSheet) database and accessed through the hospitals Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS database can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. ï'·Position requires ability to move about freely at least 85 per cent of the time. ï'· Must be able to remain stationary for extended/prolonged periods. ï'· Frequently moves/transports objects up to fifty (50) pounds and must be able to move patients of all weights with a minimum of one (1) assist or assistive device/equipment. ï'· Must be able to work in environment with continuous interruptions. ï'· Must be able to assess and respond to rapidly changing situational needs of patients, department and hospital. ï'· Must be able to adapt in a high stress and fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions. ï'· Must be able to detect sounds and respond to emergency sounds/signals at all times. ï'· Must be able to constantly operate computer, equipment and other devices. ï'· Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruptions and attend to tasks for more than sixty (60) minutes at a time. ï'· Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts and remember multiple tasks givenduring the course of a day. Salary Range:$73,326.24-$109,989.36
