USMD part of OptumCare is a multi-specialty group of hospital, clinics and physicians. USMD serves the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area with more than 250 physicians and associate practitioners, and provides healthcare services to patients in more than 20 different specialties at its 2 hospitals, 4 cancer treatment centers and nearly 50 physician clinics, many of which are multi-specialty.
The Radiology Technologist, under the direction of the department manager or supervisor, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to insure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients.
Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as listed on the competency validation checklist
Receives and reviews request for radiologic studies
Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements
Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements
Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonable achievable) standards
Explain and prepare the patient for all radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures
Interview patients and review available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure
Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield
Maintains radiographic equipment and x-ray room in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel
Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting order for supplies, verifdying receipt of supplies
Follows the hospital exposure control plans / bloodborne and airborne pathogens
Perform other duties as assigne
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Ability to stand / walk between 4 to 6 hours and sit between 2-4 hours
Ability to lift and carry up to 1/3 of the time
Ability to bend, reach, push, carry and pull 1/3 or more of the time
Ability to Continuously use hands in gross and precise motor function
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs up to 1/3 of the time
