Position Summary:

Under general supervision, operates standard, portable, and specialized X-ray equipment to perform radiographic examinations used for diagnosis and treatment. Provides appropriate patient care, develops film and instructs radiology students as needed.

Casual/PRN Status

Variable Shifts. Must be available to cover shifts during normal business hours on day, evening and weekends

Employee Work Location: Johns Hopkins Imaging - Columbia

Educatrion:

Work requires completion of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program. Registered or registry eligible. Must be licensed by State of Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance as a Medical Radiation Technologist.

Experience:

Preferred 3-6 months diagnostic radiology experience. Requires skill in performing radiologic examinations, both routine and semi complex. This required level of skill would be acquired during three to six months of related experience.

Licensure/Certification

Radiography license by the Maryland Board of Physicians required. CPR certification required with three months of employment.

Working Conditions:

Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed

The Cardiovascular Radiologic Technician is under general supervision of the manager of cardiovascular lab, the Cardiovascular Radiologic Tech performs a variety of technical and patient oriented duties during cardiovascular procedures, including, but not limited to cardiac catheterization, pacemaker insertions, arteriograms, venograms, digital subtractions, vascular studies, nephrostograms, angioplasty and other related studies. Equipment utilized may include, but is not limited to monitoring equipment, surgical instruments, cardiac output machine, pulse oximeter, ECG machine, intra-aortic balloon pump, cine film processor and viewer, etc. Performs invasive procedures, ECG's, monitors patients during procedures, prepares test results and data for review. Assists with pre and post procedure management of patients according to Lab guidelines. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange work related information. Contact with external contacts involves providing or receiving factual information. Requires normal courtesy and tact in dealing with others. 40 hours per week Day Shift 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Weekend ON-CALL work is required; no regular (non-call) weekend hours are required. Work Location: HCGH IRCV Labs (cath labs) Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program. One (1) year of cardiovascular lab experience preferred.
