Job Summary / Job Purpose

Under generalsupervision, the Radiologic Technologist (AART) II is responsible for operatesradiology equipment to make imaging films as directed by physicians andperforms radiographic and cardiopulmonary procedures for routine diagnosis andtreatment purposes. Performs specializedprocedures for diagnosis and assistance in the design of treatment for patientsincluding venography, myelography and gastrointestinal exams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and perform all diagnostic radiographs procedures, to be interpreted by the physician or radiologist.

  • Position patients and adjust equipment for taking diagnostic images following established procedures.

  • Examine radiology film and/or digital exams for properties such as density and contracts, definition, magnification and distortion.

  • Take x-rays of various portions of the body in order to diagnosis disease or injury.

  • Follow safety principles, radiation protection, and the general comfort and care of the patient.

  • Record test results and monitors patient data.

  • Maintain radiographic log, in accordance with the policy, taking responsibility for documentation of exam, patient's name, and/or retake reason.

  • Maintain separate report on all diagnostic x-rays.

  • Maintain accurate department records to satisfy both the state and federal regulations.

  • File and maintain shipping and receiving log of radiographs and other diagnostic tests requested. Maintain current MSDS forms for radiology department.

  • Calibrate and maintain x-ray equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

Education /Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

  • Associate degree from accredited school of radiologic technologist required. Current/valid registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) required. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

Experience (requiredand preferred):

  • 2 years clinical experience in radiologic technology required.

Accurately preforms preliminary physical tests such as: measures blood pressure, records weight, temperature, pulse and respirations and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols. Key Responsibilities Perform general patient care by following established standardsand procedures. Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider. Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, bloodpressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and currentmedications and presenting problem. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patientsand prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral,injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration. May perform routine tests including but not limited to EKG's. Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensurecompletion of testing. Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of careby phone or mail as directed by physician. Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment;keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly; dispose of contaminateditems according to protocol. Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results inthe medical record as directed by the provider. Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to thepractice manager or healthcare provider(s). Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed asrequired. Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacyrights. Perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, MA Lead oras requested by healthcare provider(s). Job Requirements / Qualifications Education /Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred): High school diploma or equivalent required. Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certificationrequired or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required if applicable. Successfully completed Medication Aide 40-hour course or current/validMedication Aide certification by state agency required if applicable. May require specialized training such as Non-Certified RadiologicTechnician (NCT). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS)required.
