GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
*Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
*Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography, fluoroscopy, portable diagnostic and portable fluoroscopy; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.
*Uses sterile technique as required.
*Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
5.Performs venipunctures.
*Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS and offsite Radiologist Services
*Utilizes department computer systems, PACS, to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
*Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
*Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
*Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as assigned.
*Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
*Keeps area properly supplied.
*Competently sets up and operates various c-arms to support high volume surgical cases in the operating room. Develops positive rapport with surgeons in the operating room.
*Competently sets up and operates o-arms in the operating room to support high volume surgical cases, working closely with the surgeons.
*Competently operates all x-ray equipment to perform trauma imaging via portable or stationary x-ray systems. Achieves high quality trauma images in an expedient manner.
*Competently and efficiently completes all types of x-ray imaging for high volume trauma clinic patients.
Assists with departmental orientation and student clinical education as directed.
*Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required. Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
