Under the direction and supervision of a technical supervisor, incumbent performs radiographic procedures in the respective sections. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis.

Staff will be required to float among radiology clinics associated with BWH as needed. These sites are, but not limited to: 75 Francis Street Boston MA.,850 Boylston Street ,Chestnut Hill Ma, and 20 Patriot Place Foxborough, Ma.

1.Performs duties such as transporting, transferring, immobilizing and positioning patients.
2.Calculates and selects proper technical factors; operates all equipment as required; acquires and processes Images; properly identifies images with patient I.D. and appropriate markers in order to obtain quality diagnostic images.
3.Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards; assists physicians in administering contrast media, practices technique, and performs first aid when necessary.
4.Assists in Quality Improvement projects.
5.Uses Radiology information system and Hospital Information Systems that are Integrated with the Department of Radiology to keep patient data up-to-date such as scheduling, tracking, along with appropriate Image Services and maintenance responsibilities.
6.Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of assigned areas.
7.Rotates within department, divisions and all off site clinics, by shifts as required and needed; cooperates with all personnel, promoting harmony within department
8.Explains exam to patient taking into consideration physical and emotional needs; maintaining ethical standards. (Patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc.)
9.Attends staff meetings, in-services, and maintains appropriate CEU's in accordance with Massachusetts's state licensure and ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) requirements.
10. Performs other related duties including; reception, Image Services and Escort functions as necessary.
11. Assists Radiologic Technologist students and new staff in performing Radiologic exams, sterile technique, and proper stocking of supplies in radiographic rooms.
1.Must have graduated from an approved formal Program in Radiologic technology
2.Incumbent must possess a valid Massachusetts license as a Radiologic technologist in the category of Radiography.
3.To perform mammography the incumbent must possess a valid Massachusetts license in mammography in addition to the license in radiography.
4.Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or equivalent certification and registration.
5.0 - 2 years experience as a Radiologic Technologist

1.Must be able to operate and utilize all types of x-ray and related equipment and supplies.
2.Must effectively use interpersonal skills to deal with patients and fellow employees who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
3.Must be able to read and interpret requisitions forms.
4.Must be able to comprehend complex information and use independent judgment in a variety of situations.
5.Must be physically capable of lifting, (linen, supplies, patients etc.).

1.Must be prepared to work OT, holidays and weekends as needed.
2.Works in a large open area in radiology that is noisy and tends to have extreme temperature and humidity variations.
3.Minimal exposure to ionizing radiation when using proper safety procedures.
4.Continuous standing and lifting.
5.Exposure to human waste and disease.
6.Considerable stress from dealing with a wide variety of hospital staff, patients and families.

VIEW JOBS 12/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-11T00:00 GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: The Medical Assistant (MA) is an integral member of the healthcare team and is accountable for patient care as assigned by a licensed independent provider (LIP: MD, NP, PA), a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN). The MA participates in the direct and indirect care of patients, health maintenance, patient instruction, collaborative planning and rehabilitation within scope of practice and consistent with his/her education and training. The Medical Assistant may be present in secure medication storage areas and is allowed incidental access to medications. Developing relationships with patients, families and colleagues, the MA functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and contributes toward the attainment of important goals for the patient, the practice and the organization. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Job duties and responsibilities may vary by department (see addendum A for more detail) Clinical Duties and Responsibilities: * Demonstrates true engagement and enthusiasm to contribute toward the care delivery needs for patients and families. * Promotes an inclusive environment supportive of patient and family centered care for a diverse community. * Accepts assignments for patient care within the scope of his/her preparation and within current standards of practice. * In conjunction with a Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) , LPN or RN, participates in the gathering of data that contributes to the assessment, planning, and evaluation of care delivered. * Collaborates as a member of the health care team, contributing toward a supportive and therapeutic environment that promotes the attainment of patient goals that are specific, measurable, action-oriented, realistic and timely. * Accurately obtains vital signs, elicits information about the patient's basic health status, administers relevant care within scope of practice and as directed by the LIP/LPN/RN, and documents as appropriate in the electronic health record. * Performs routine tests that may include but is not limited to: electrocardiograms, vision and hearing screening, and the collection of specimens for laboratory testing and point of care. * Participates in team-based care and patient education initiatives to support the health and wellness of patients in conjunction with the LIP/LPN/RN. Reinforces patient instruction as directed by LIP/LPN/RN. * Participates in organizational and unit-based quality improvement initiatives and compliance readiness. * Participates in telephone screening of patients; may provide instruction to patient when directed by the LIP/LPN/RN. * Participates in prescription management tasks including pending of new prescriptions and renewals requiring LIP approval, prior authorizations and medication reconciliation. * Follows approved clinical practice guidelines (CPG's) and workflows, pends appropriate orders for radiology, laboratory testing and other care needs requiring LIP authorization. * Performs a variety of tasks, including those that may be facilitated by administrative staff, which have an effect on the overall operations of the unit.
